John Chagnon, St Paul-- if a sudden and totally unpredicted tornado (and the only tornado in the entire history of downtown Minneapolis) had landed on the Metrodome within a day or two of Favre's signing, then you might be excused for wondering if there was more than coincidence. I tend to roll my eyes at those who see "omens" in every misshaped piece of pizza dough, but this one even got my attention.

Switzerland has no public health program ? It certainly does. Also for the private health insurance companies in Switzerland remember that nearly everybody is working and the income is a livable wage. Which means all can afford more than most US residents can.
If you are ever in Switzerland, just traveling through and seriously injured in a car wreck ( meaning you are not a member of the local private health insurance companies ) you will be treated as if you were. There will be an attempt to collect from your health care but if you have none then no charge.

"A sensible fix on health care." That makes too much sense to be proposed in this country. Imagine, health care actually working if the government just gets out of the way.

"Or is the real policy to hassle progressive Americans but allow right-wing fruitcakes to intimidate anyone who disagrees with their Big foot, tooth fairy, wicked witch, black helicopter, jack-booted thug, pull-the-plug-on-Grandma delusions? "
Oh, the poor little innocent angel progressives, with complete acceptance of opposing views! They are so nice they never even say anything bad about anyone.

Unless they want to prove they give equal time to all uber flake, nutjob views, I'm totally mystified as to why the PP thought that was a print worthy letter to the editor.

That's less than the population of New York without the largly illiterate, unemployed, unhealthy immigrant population.
Topix needs a new "Judge it" choice for "obvious". But while you and I know that, it really is amazing how many are befuddled by something so simple.

The more educated a society, the greater the skill level of its people. The greater the skill level of its people, the more able they are to generate income. The more able one is to generate income, the more able one is to be able to buy things, things like healthcare. The more we increase the share of the population without skills, the worse our healthcare problem becomes. It truly ain't that complicated.

Gloria Zaiger-a few days ago I said "Disagree on sexual orientation issues and you are a homophobe" (Whatever it is, it has a price, post #11). A person by the handle gzaiger responded in disagreement, and even told me to stop whining (post #12). Now today I read your letter and it says "it seems ridiculous to even mention Scripture to justify homophobia."
First, your statement proves that i was right. If you disagree with the radical left on sexual orientation you are a homophobe. Second, if you are the same person you are my best ally in proving my point. Thank you! Either way, your letter justifies my point about the intolerance of the extreme left.
Thanks again!

If you can't do it in under 100 pages of legislation, then throw it out and start over.

Harry Truman tried to get this country to find a solution to our health care problems. he failed because all the right wing wacko's lied and obstructed any attempt to have a reasonable discussion about our health care problems. so today 70 years later we are still trying to have a reasonable discussion about the highest costing poorest performing health care system in the indutrial world. the right wing wacko's are doing the same thing that they did in 40's they are lying shouting and obstructing any meaningful discussion about changing the health care system. WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS????? its pretty simple they are and have been paid off thru insurance and pharmeceutical company lobbyists who have provided all of the lies that Rush Limbaugh Sarah Palin and Sean Hannity keep feeding their dittoheads. For gods sake isnt 70 years of lyimg and obstructing long enough?????

The left is intolerant of only one thing, unrelenting idiocy with no ability to discuss whether a homosexual is made by God and as such deserves equal protection under the law. I am a Hetrosexual but I know that animals are sometimes homosexual and I wonder who made them that way??? could it be that god was involved?????

Have you read the bill?

• Page 50: All non-US citizens, illegal or not, will be provided with free healthcare services.

• Page 65: Taxpayers will subsidize all union retiree and community organizer health plans (read: SEIU, UAW and ACORN)

• Page 95: The Government will pay ACORN and Americorps to sign up individuals for Government-run Health Care plan.

• Page 170: Any NON-RESIDENT alien is exempt from individual taxes (Americans will pay for them).

• Page 203:“The tax imposed under this section shall not be treated as tax.” Yes, it really says that.

* PG 524 18-22 Comparative Effectiveness Research Trust Fund set up. More taxes for ALL.

* Pg 838-840 Government will design & implement Home Visitation Program for families with young kids & families expecting kids.

* Pg 859 Government will establish a Public Health Fund at a cost of $88,800,000,000. Yes thats Billion.

Daily Horoscope for December 30

Virgo

If the December sales are calling you, you'd better work out a budget before you leave the house. Otherwise, you'll be tempted to use your credit card first and only consider the cost of your purchase later on. Even so, you could track down some great bargains now, provided you don't get carried away and buy items that you don't really want simply because you're astonished by the amount of money you'll save in buying them. But you'll save even more money if you don't buy them!
