Senator wants no federal funds used in U.S.-China wind project

Full story: Lubbock Avalanche-Journal

A Democratic senator on Thursday called on the Obama administration to reject an expected request for federal economic stimulus money as part of a $1.5 billion West Texas wind energy project, saying it will generate Chinese, not American, jobs - a claim strongly disputed by the project's developer.

Sen. Charles Schumer, D- N.Y. does not understand that if we do not buy the Chinese made turbines we will need to buy turbines from Rolls-Royce. Rolls-Royce will be asking our government for fabricating all the other components, while the Chinese project will be funded by a Chinese corporation, which is under written by the Chinese government, who still have money to lend to us.

All other components like the towers and the propellers will be made in western Texas counties, which El Paso is part of it. This project might not benefit N.Y. but it sure will benefit El Paso, Texas.

Sen. Charles Schumer: You are an idiot!

I think the good senator is doing his job. He is elected to represent New York, not Texas and not the United States of America. The strength of the political system is to grab every dollar for the state you represent and bugger the rest of the country. Great system. Don't blame the man for doing his job.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Cancer

Mercury turning retro is offering you the chance to make sweeping and long-lasting changes to your life, and to clear the ground for some fertile growth in 2010. Lawyers and legal matters, debates, contract negotiations, partnership or other alliances, and joint ventures of any kind need attention. As a Cancerian you don't like endings, but you must now bring an end to any situation or relationship that is holding you back or has passed its sell-by date. Look forward, not back, if you want a glittering future.
