bell twp. considers eliminating local police

Bell Township, Westmoreland County - Township supervisors have announced their intention to eliminate the local police department. Currently the department consists of one officer who has been on suspension with pay since November, 2007. The supervisors have not disclosed a reason for their decision, but will hold an open town meeting on Wednesday, January 23 at 3:30pm at the Township Building on route 380. The supervisors stated this was the only time that was convenient for the lawyers. The township is currently considering either entering into a contract with Washington Township to provide local patrols, or simply rely on the State Police. Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting to voice their concern.

Bell Township has no need for additional police.
The State Police can do the job.
A lot of people agree there is way to many police officers on the road. This needs to be cut back.Too much money is spent.

To much money spent? They been throwing it away for nothing. The townships been paying his salary, for nothing, probably paying to keep a criminal from coming to work.
What, they going to pay this pig to stay home for a hole year? What the hell was he suspended for anyway?
And how many times have you been arrested?

Not sure if I agree with expecting the State Police to pick up the burden and from my understanding those twps that rely on the State Police as the main enforcement will be assessed certain costs. Need more information to better answer the question posed
