is the new roundabout a good or bad idea?

well its kind of a funny thing....as far as i know just about everyone was against the roundabouts even the emergency crews....my older brother is a emt in highland and thats how i heard the emergency crews werent real excited about them....its obvious to me the previous mayor felt like the town was just his little toy to do with as he pleased....but why mayor michaelis (forgive spelling there) didnt stop it before the second one was started is beyond me....i feel the money would have been better spent on fixing some of the terrible streets in town....but we are the people so it doesnt matter what we want lol

This one should be called the Michaelis round-about. He obviously wanted it or he could have stopped it from being built.

lol good thinking...and a true statement....its about as smart as tearing down a pavilion on the square that was "neat" looking and just needed a few repairs and replacing it with the one that is there that looks like they bought from some carport salesman lol

The roundabout has been in the works for a long time. They wanted to put the roundabout at the Poplar / Broadway intersection first but decided to try out a smaller one on 40 first. All I can say is that after the success of the first one why did they wait so long to start the other one. The roundabout moves traffic so much faster than sitting a dam light. But when it comes to the pavilion, WTF? And this new talk of making a new Highland exit is a bad idea too. I can't stand the way the current city council is spending our money.

How about those bug looking things they floated on the lake. The council crapped a bunch of money there.

You are correct on that one Anon.$200k just becuase the water tastes bad twice a year when the lake turns over. Basically beacuse a restaurant went to a council meeting and complained. It rained on a party I was having last week; maybe I should go to a meeting and ask for a dome over my subdivision?

you may only have a dome over your subdivision if a council member also lives in said subdivision...if no counsel member lives in your subdivision it would be a complete conflict of interest lol

Anyone heard about building a new city hall?

Wha??? The city hall is fairly new and they just took over the only bookstore in town to expand and move the public works department in there.

Can anyone explain why we have a park director & now a park manager? Seems like more wasteful spending by this council. Wasting money is becoming the norm.

maybe they need to get rid of the extra postition and hire a storm spotter cause the first storm taht went through tonight was taking off tree limbs...and no siren.....then maybe 30 minutes later the sirens go off and nothing happens lol....of course we had no idea what was really going on because crappy charter was out the whole time...i hope the charter issues dont start again...i went for about 3 months with charter constently going out all day long...it was sad....they did give us some credit for the "inconvienence" but when you run a teamspeak and gaming servers it makes the server host look real bad...if i was getting what i was paying for id have the fastest internet ever and i could take it anywhere...heck where 16 meg cable internet is avaiable they are paying the same price as we are paying for the biggest here so far which is 10 meg....sheesh i didnt get a kiss and they didnt use vaseline lol ....but next time you have charter on the phone ask them why you are paying for 10 meg the same price as other charter customers are paying for 16 meg...the price also is cheaper for the other bandwith packages....oops sorry i started a whole nother topic lol

Regarding an earlier post on this string, City Hall just bought a $600 coffee maker so they are going to have to save up again if they want to build a new building.

Don't think roundabout will be done before school begins. That'll be fun driving.

Let's see what traffic is like when school starts in the morning. Maybe the city "engineer", the mayor and his supporters should direct traffic.

On second thought they might not be able to handle the traffic.....

How could they handle traffic - they can't handle the Truth!

It was pretty bad this morning BUT all first days are bad...it will be interesting to see how the remainder of the week goes.

Ummmm....not when you donate to a certain campaign fund. If anything they'll charge more with another Change Order. Check out council agendas - they do it all the time.
