Tehama County Board gives money back

In spite of the critical financial state the department is in, certain of the top-earning employees continue to get bonuses. Why during this time of severe economical hardship when hiring freezes, and possible layoffs are considered appropriate partial solutions to this crises that bonuses are being handed out under the guise of “out of class pay”. Only the highest wage earners in the department receive these bonuses. As of last week, they continue to receive these bonuses. Just imagine if all county departments operated this way. How many jobs can be saved if these county top wage earners stopped this practice or gave back their bonuses?

I would like to see them give up an equivilent percentage of their income to that which county workers will lose so they can really feel the pain instead of this token. Many supervisors have enough income from other sources so that this token payment makes no difference. One days pay a month for a county worker who lives paycheck to paycheck is ALOT more than 100$ to a supervisor. This is just a political stunt. It is alot easier to lose pay (Goodwin) when you make 100k a year than it is to lose pay when you are barely making it. This is a good illustration of the disconnect between admin and the employees. I am not impressed. There is enough fat to trim from budgets without hurting employees. I cant wait for the next election.
