You carjack a person and show your family members your gun. You are a threat to society and the police did what they should have. Instead of the media trying to make the officers feel bad and second guess themselves, give them some praise. Why does the media always side with the "thug" who was going to rty and clean his life up. Give me a break.

....anyone stupid enough to point any type of weapon, replica or not, at a Police Officer should expect no other result than this. Seems that the person doing the pointing may not have wanted the situation to end any other way. May not have wanted to go back to jail. Guess we won't have to worry about him doing any more crime. Better him than the Officer or anyone else.

As many that want to rob, carjack and shoot at the police. This guy was a CRIMINAL to the core. He got what he deserved. I'm glad the idiot went to thte alley to do this so no innocent civilians were injured. GREAT job by the officers involved.

My thanks to the officer for a job well done. This seems to be a criminal who used law enforcement to commit suicide.

Get a grip.
He robbed a bank. Information indicated he wore a bulletproof vest.
He hijacked a car.
He exited a vehicle under police direction WITH A GUN.
HE IGNORED THE OFFICERS AND PULLED A HOOD OVER HIS HEAD.
HE TURNED TO FACE THE OFFICERS WITH A GUN.
He died.

WHAT THE HELL DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT A THREAT?

You are a moron.

The police did as they are supposed to.
Thanks to the officers involved.

Fine, the next time you are in a dangerous situation, call a murderer, robber, thug, deviate, pervert or any other kind of criminal for assistance. Yeah, you are one of those who are the first to scream "WHERE are the police" when something is awry.

Bravo!!! A dangerous situation handled promptly, and as it has been reported, deadly force was easily justifiable. "Very concerned", your thoughts are for somewhere other than the real world, hopefully you have more common sense than you displayed in your comment when you are behind the wheel of an automobile! I do not agree with the comment that the media should go out of their way to praise the officer for shooting this man. I am in know way being critical of his actions, but praise should be for those who read about or watch the reporting of the accurate information, the media should remain factual in this case. Too much praise will only lead to others that less than well adjusted to believe if they are in a situation of this sort that they should shoot first, because the police are hunting for headlines, which I don't believe to be the case in any way here, just that the media should stay in the middle ground here.

There is one thing I am concerned with.
Hate to mention it, but here goes....

the cop fired three times, and only hit him once.

Now it was a kill, so good shot, but one for three?

It should have been (and I apologize to the police in advance, as I am not a cop), but it should have been two shots, rapid succession, both within an inch or two of one another, both in the center mass area (heart/lungs).

Recommend we (the citizens) pay for more time on shooting ranges for our law enforcement.

Again, apologize to the police if I am out of line, but one for three is not impressive.

Thank you for keeping our streets safer!!

Reasonable to Me: I'm sorry, when was the last YOU shot a human being?? The officer took a man's life, He was right in doing so, but NOW he has to live with that thought/image, the rest of his life... He did his job and he did it well.. try sticking to the story....

No training in the world can prepare you for shooting a man in the "real world"... I know..

Big Praise & Thank YOU's to the Officer for doing YOUR job and keeping US safe....

Maybe if the officer was firing a rifle or had a lazer light red dot sight. But hitting one on a moving target out of three with a handgun is pretty good. Especially when your tatget is trying to hit you.

Not wanting to shoot, feeling bad after you shoot, the thought/image....all are secondary.
Of primary importance are accurately and rapidly firing. Cops lives are on the line.
Idiots and psycho's shoot at cops all the time.
There is not time for "do i want to" or "should I" or "will I ruin someone's family" or "is this a sin" when being shot at !!

Double tap, center mass, rapidly, when the split second decision is made.
One out of three is a sign of insufficient practice.
The officer did not miss two out of three because he was concerned with the psychological implications of shooting !!
He or she missed two out of three because his or her marksmanship was poor.

What nonsense.

Should we buy the officer a drink to help get over feeling bad? Sure.
Should we buy the officers spouse flowers in case the officer takes stress home? Sure.
But we should also provide sufficient training so that cops do not risk their own lives.
Three for three, center mass.
That is what this taxpayer is willing to pay for.
