Malibu knows what they are doing it's a pity that Mitirice's face isn't plastered all over the news like her counterparts. The media perpetuates what the price of one's life is and we as a docile public follow their lead. Malibu does not want to bring attention to their incompetance we pay for these officials to "Protect and Serve" but we don not specify WHO... You be the judge!!!!

Three points.
1. If LASD has nothing to hide, show the tape to put the family's concern to rest. If LASD refuses to release the tape (no legal reason NOT to release the tape) then Leroy Baca has some explaining to do. 2. If the daughter is truly suffering from mental illness, she may very well be hanging out in skid row areas, blending into the skid row area as just another faceless person. 3. What role is the Office of Independant Review taking in this case? They work for the Board of Supervisors, not Sheriff Baca. What is their report on all of this? |

...yet let's not include the missing girl's picture with this post...?
Its kind of amazing that the woman's family indicates they knew she was mentally unstable, however, they didn't intervene and have her evaluated and/or committed?
Now, most probably because they didn't do their part, and because they like the sharks they are smell money, but they have to blame the Sheriff's Department, trying to put the onerousness on the LASD for not locking up a woman that in the LASD's opinion wasn't a threat to herself or others. Sounds like the family wants to extend the LAPD lottery (suing) to the LASD. Its obvious no one in this family is willing to take responsibility for their relative....they'd rather get their faces on camera! |

This one is easy. Release the video. It's the right thing to do.
Let's find the girl. |
1. Eventually the tape will be released. That's a given, the politics dictate it.
2. If the tape shows an altered level of consciousness or the potential for a 5150 hold, the family has a case. If not, there's no case. 3. The Malibu Mountains are close, yet, extremely remote and unforgiving. Anybody can disappear in a moment. 4. The City of Malibu obviously considers it not their problem. Malibu government rarely does the right thing and consistently makes poor decisions. This is nothing new. 5. If this person is actually alive and not at the bottom of some canyon, finding a potentially mentally ill homeless person who may not want to be found in LA is virtually impossible. 6. The family did not score points with anybody when they have a hated public attention whore like Leo Terrell representing them. There are no racial overtones to this case and it takes from the goal of finding this person. 8. The case obviously is being handled at the highest levels of the Sheriffs Dept. Eventually it will be resolved. 9. Unfortunately, true blame falls on the missing person for their poor decision making and getting into this situation in the first place. The City of Malibu and the Sherrifs Dept. did not create this situation. 10. I hope the family finds their loved one and everybody is happy. Good luck to all. |

We all just need to get along and use our Taxed-paid resources.. to locate the Girl....This really says a whole lot about our elected officials.. On the Brighter Note: This is great Publicity for the City of Malibu.. And the City Council...
Thanks.. |

Legally, she can't be held unless she's homicidal, suicidal or gravely disabled. Talking or acting weird doesn't qualify. Skipping out on a meal is a crime, but they charged her and released her quickly, because it's not even an offense that requires bail. Even if she's doing something odd in the video, like flapping her arms like wings or something, that doesn't qualify for a 72-hour psychiatric hold. It would have been nice if they had a social worker on staff to talk to her and make some more phone calls, but that's pretty expensive, especially considering that it was nighttime. However, any kind of odd behavior on the tape would be embarrassing to the Department because the media would play it up big. Hopefully she's okay, holed up with a friend, and just staying quiet because she's worried about the arrest. With everything that's happened, it's pretty clear that the restaurant won't press charges, so she can come back to her family and get treatment for her problems. Mitrice, please come back before your family starts spending the millions in their eyes!

This is what happens when you steal things that don't belong to you. As far as the Sheriff's Dept is concerned, they did their job for protecting the commuity from random acts of thief and dope smoking.

Must be nice to live in a fog. Read your post again. Most others will see it as a mean, nasty and uncaring rant from someone who has never had a problem in his or here life. This is a human being we're talking about. Your apologies for bureaucratic incompetence and a seemingly mercenary restaurant tell us more than we would like to know about your human caring and compassion. No matter the circumstances, this woman is missing. Got it? Missing! Why not get off your self-righteous duff and help find her! |
It certainly appears that the woman is disturbed and has problems society can not handle. Blaming the victim in this case is heartless. The Sheriff's department did not create the situation (the restaurant sounds a bit over the top and then some in calling the law for an unpaid bill, even if she was causing a ruckus) but they surely did exacerbate it. I hope she is found, and gets the help she needs. |
Are you helping to find her? |
I'm getting the balloon boy feeling.
If the woman at twenty four years old is unfit to be far from home, why was she in Malibu with no money and alone? Who was responsible for her there?
The sad thing is this girl probably is mentaly unstable because she has not 1 person who truely loves her. I know if I went missing my family would have my picture posted everywhere on every news station, on every street conner, and they wouldn't stop until I was found. They wouldn't be making any fuss about a video. They would be finding me. A person who does not have love in there life will stuggle. So, if someone could put a picture up and we all put effort into finding her we may accomplish that. We may even change her life. At least I would try to. |
I really do not want to bring race into this, but something tells me if she was a skinny white girl with blonde hair and blue eyes Malibu would be doing so much more.
