It is insane to turn a sixteen year old with a new license loose in a Eclipse sports car. At what point will parents in this day and age get it that kids need to have a chance to EARN things and not just have them given to them? To say NO once in a while! Now a mother has lost a child just so another family could show the world how well off they are. And the girl driving has to live with it the rest of her life. Hopefully, she has enough character to even care and her parents have enough sense not to put her in another car. Thank God one boy had enough sense to get out of the car before the wreck, due to the wreckless, fast driving of the girl. We need to pray for all of them.

Parents has a problem of their kids has to have the look to be cool in school. By what they wear to what they drive and it wont stop until the parent be the parent. and you know what also dum the parents drive the junkie car so the kids can be cool in school. a new drive should have a powerful car. i dont care it just looks tuff there nothing under the hood comment. let it be dependable and it something happens the auto is replaceable not the child. im at the point kids should not be allowed to drive by them self until the age of 18 or graduated form high school. And you know what the real shame of the lost of this kid. after a few weeks no one who knew her are read this story and seen the wreak. They wont remenber it when they get behind a wheel. and the same event happens againg some where some place. When you buy your child a auto parents i hope the what ifs are part of the buying process. so if there is a wreak you might not have to answer to your self some of the hardest what ifs. I have auto that a boy or girl could work on and do minor repairs.not a lot of horse power and descent gas mileage. They took care of it and when it was time for college. new strick rules for a new auto. i sorry for these parents lose. i hope they can reach other kids and not let their story end. i hope it keep anothe kid safe on the roads.

I live in Aledo, and see the way ADULTS drive. The vehicle was only going 58 mph, granted above the 45 mph posted speed limit, but a sedan can go 58 mph just as well as a sport car.

Speed and inexperience are to blame here. It was an ACCIDENT, which means it was NOT INTENDED.

That road is sneaky and curvey, many wrecks have occured on that road.

Maybe we should ask our local police to radar there more. Maybe we should ask TXD to lower the speed limit there.

Maybe we should raise driving age to 18 or 21. Maybe we should walk or ride bikes more.

You can't point a finger at one thing.

You can try your best to raise your kids and teach them the way they should go, but fact is, we all were dumb teens at once and did dumb things...as I stated early on...even Adults make mistakes and drive stupidly.

It was an accident.

And Nicole is dearly missed.

No matter how hard we try to teach our children to do the right thing, kids will be kids and do stupid things. We have all been there and done that, as they say. That curve is a bad curve to be traveling that fast. The speed limit is 45, but of course, everyone around here thinks they can do what they want. I too have seen the way people in Aledo drive and it's horrible! Many people in this area always throw out the fact that they live in Aledo and they make x amount of dollars. Your money and good jobs cannot bring this child back nor save another from dying this way. Teach your kids to respect the laws....and practice what you preach!

You know, I don't like hearing kids will be kids, thats a stupid saying. IT'S true that, that is a bad road, but speeding is speeding no matter what. Are you going to tell this kid it's alright its not your fault,"WRONG". That is why some kids are the way they are, This one may suffur the rest of her life, but aleast she breathing.

How many of you are going to speed on the way home from work today. You sit in judgment of people you don't even know. SHAME on you.

who are any of you to judge anyone else?
DO YOU LIVE HERE? DID YOU AT THIS TIME?
DOUBTFUL.

the way that this death effected the people that she went to school with, will never be forgotten. the class of 2008 had a sick reminder that life is short, too short, and any simple mistakes could change the course of both your life, and the lives of the people around you forever. we lost a friend, and the burn marks on the fence are still a daily reminder.

imagine being remembered as the ' girl who killed her best friend', having to change schools due to the insane harassment; and having to live with the horrible memories for your entire life.

(to all the 'adults' posting comments coming down on the subject of this death.. get off your computer and go spend some time with your kids...

The girl that was speeding wasnt really speeding compared to adults that go down that road every day. I live in that town and the corner that she crashed into is one of the most dangerous corners out in aledo. For you teenagers that think parents should always be in the car with us how do you plan on doing anything if mommy or daddy is in the car. That girl ended up having to move away from aledo and deal with the fact that she killed her best friend. She also ended up putting another person into a wheelchair for almost two years.
