Congratulations to Country Curtains for getting a solar system that is paid for by the taxpayers of Massachusetts. It is interesting that in today’s paper there is an article that Berkshire Hills Regional School District is having its state funding cut by $600,000. If these solar power systems are so great, then why does the taxpayer have to pay almost half the cost? Can’t these systems have an economic return on their own without state taxpayers covering so much of the cost? There is something wrong when our elected representatives praise the state giving away $300,000 of our money so that Country Curtains can make more money, and yet they support raising sales taxes, cutting social programs, and cutting funds to our schools. This is not right. Everyone was wearing green from all of our money they were given.

Downing said, "One of the reasons the Berkshires is such a special place," said state Sen. Benjamin B. Downing, D-Pittsfield, "is because of special people like the Fitzpatricks." Because of the people like the Fitzpatricks, they have millions why did want us to pay for it, when the school has to cut back because of the lack of funding, what is this world coming too! Good save us all. Hey, does anyone want to start a group, maybe conerned citizens???

There he goes as usual Sen. Downing campaigning with anyone whom has a pocket full of money. He does not seem to care about funding being cut to schools as long as he can butter up someone with bucks for my warchest getting ready for the election.

Senator Downing is nothing but a boob with a lot of growing up to do, have you ever tried talking to him one on one, it is like talking to a little boy. He is afraid of his own shadow. He is very good talking to people he already knows.Another lightweight pol that does not return calls or answer emails.Ben is not a patch on his fathers ass.Senator Downing has exactly no accomplishments to his credit since his tenure as Senator began.

If his last name wasn't Downing, he would be working the late shift at a 7/11. He should be thankful that Berkshire voters are so stupid.

Why can't the State give stimulus money to the schools and put solar panels on all the schools/ This would help give construction jobs, help schools cut their electric bill and help the state decrease their carbon footprint. If the schools would adjust their schedules to accomodate using solar (shifting to a summer schedule) we could also cut down on the oil bill!! Health cost might decrease to if during the flu months people aren't in school, look at all the savings!!

Simple answer to that question the schools can't donate to their campaign accounts can't take them on junkets can't give their wives jobs the reasons go on and on it would make just to much sense to put these solar panels on schools or public buildings these schemes are never ending.

Actually you are wrong with that. The Massachusetts Teachers Association have a powerful union and donate a lot of money to candidates. Just llok at how hard the four Democratic candidates for senator are bum kissing the MTA in hopes of moey, endorsements and votes.

Why must state taxpayers be forced to subsidize with $300,000 an already highly-profitable local company? If putting up solar panels is such a great money-saving idea, why can't Country Curtains invest its own capital?
