Hinsdale is one of the places where there is a legal abortion clinic...how sad, what a low class town. Glad I don't live there!

The last speaker at the Aurora City Council meeting Tuesday night (it was nearly 11 p.m.), an anti-choice woman, was provoking council members from the podium. One of the beleagured Aurora City Council members made the comment that the city was most likely going to get sued by all sides by the time this whole deal is done.

I came away feeling sorry for the City Council, and sick to my stomach with the rhetoric from the anti-choice side. If you wanted to hear their real agenda, you needed to stick around until after 10 p.m.- that's when the gloss came off and the lawyer talk ended. They want YOU to believe just what they believe, or else.

All I can say is I'm glad I'm not an Aurora City Council member; this has to be a no-win situation for them.

MYOB you narrow-minded protesters. Planned Parenthood does so much more than just perform abortions. You have no right to force your beliefs on the rest of us. You are breaking the law and preventing women from getting services they desperately need in the area.

A liberal assembly line? Providing birth control and other health tests and counseling could prevent many from reaching the point of abortion. MYOB Mike and let women get the legal services they deserve!

What's low class is seeing this issue from only the abortion point of view. Planned Parenthood provides many other services that could PREVENT abortions and save women's lives. Low class people are narrow-minded and force their views on everyone else.

i love how insane people get about this. mike, you're an idiot: planned parenthood is not just an abortion clinic, it provides a number of other services to assist those in need. abortion is neither promoted or discouraged, options are merely presented. and as for abortion: i do not believe in abortion. just because i don't believe in it doesn't mean that others should have to feel the same way. those who disagree are crazy and should probably have a place in bush's cabinet.

Margaret Lake Zurich-

You said you feel sorry for the City Council of Aurora. I do not. Their whole zonning process is questionable if something can be approved by a committee and not passed to the whole council for approval. It is incumbant upon them to clean up their process and make sure that the permitting process has been met before issuing construction permits. Furthermore, Mayor Weisner has been deadly silent on this issue which will cost the residents of Aurora more than a million dollars in legal fees. I say, allow the clinic to open, have Aurora amend its permitting process, and get rid of their idiot mayor and city staff.

Last I checked, abortion was a constitionally protected right of women. If you have an issue with that, take it up with the Supreme Court.

All of this permit business is just legal positioning for the anti-abortionists to force their views on all. PP did nothing legaly wrong.

Excuse me - last I checked except in extream cercumstances no women "needs" an abortion. There is no reason anyone could come up with that is not selfish.

Everyone talks about Planned Parenthood services. They give birth control pills. When you get STD from the 'freedom' of the birth control pill, they treat it. When you get pregnent they give you an abortion. By zoning and permit they cannot perform any other surgical procedures. If you think they are 'full service' try calling them and asking for help because you want to keep you baby. Or for infertility problems. Then you will see their true colors. Also dupage county already has 6 abortion clinics. I don't believe a seventh is really needed.

"my body my choice" what a lie, once your pregnant it's not just your body anymore, your body is keeping another living soul alive.

to some guy. They filed for permits under another name, lied at council meeting when asked the nature of the business and didn't all get the necessary permits. (which would have required full disclosure to the community) Any other business doing this would be shut down. For planned parenthood, this seems to be their preferred method of construction.

Abortion is not a constitutionally protected right. It is allowed under the right to privacy, as decided by the Supreme Court.

What I believe is illegal is :

1) Intentionally providing false information application on an occupancy permit, AFTER the building had already been constructed. This was material to the permit since it was not for a for-profit medical institution, but for a non-profit. They have different regulations and requirements in Aurora.

2) Circumventing, whether intentional or not, Aurora's established permit review process. This was due to their complex structuring of a for-profit corporation under a non-profit corporation.

These are legal facts which nothing to do with Roe vs. Wade. If the REQUIRED public review for a non-profit to occupy this space had occurred, this building wouldn't be where it is.

Planned Parenthood can most certainly legally occupy space in Aurora. There is no doubt about that. But what they can't do is muscle in in the dark of night into a residential neighborhood and say, "hey we're here !"

If someone put a toxic waste handler across the street from me, I'd sure as hell want to know about it ahead of time and have a chance to talk about it in front of the city council.

I would also like some of the Pro-Choice legal eagles to explain to me how a non-profit can own a for-profit. That's a mystery to me. I would think this should also draw thorough Federal review of Planned Parenthood's non-profit status.

And lastly, regarding the "lack" of services in Aurora, Rush-Copley hospital, which is less than 2 miles from this site, has it's own Women's Health Center which offers all the services that Planned Parenthood will offer (except possibly abortion), and more.

If an abortion is desired or needed, these can be obtained at one of the 3 nearby clinics that are operated in Downers Grove, Glen Ellyn, and Hinsdale. See illinoisabortion.com if you need the addresses.

So before people spout about right to choice, etc., better check your legal arguments first.

There is no need for Planned Parenthood in Aurora, and this is nothing more than a political stunt by them to show how they can build a clinic right in the backyard of the Pro-Life Action League or Americans United for Life.

If this is really about need, it would be out in Dekalb, Springfield, or Peoria where I believe there are no clinics today.

This is all about the courts, and cut down on the drive time for the legal battles.

Clearly those fighting for the pro-life aren't that intelligent. If you're going to post something you should try to spell correctly.

If I call an IVF clinic and ask them to remove my gallbladder, will they do it? No? Why those bastards! Should my dentist also examine my eyes? Should my OB/Gyn give me a pedicure next time my feet are in the stirrups?

PP, like any medical clinic, specializes. They offer women's health services. That doesn't mean they also need to offer IVF services. If a woman wants to have her child adopted out, most PPs will point her in the right direction. They are not there to be an adoption service - they offer education, checkups, prevention and when a woman chooses, termination. CPCs don't offer a woman anything beyond guilt and lies - why aren't you decrying them for not being "full service"?
