It is tragic and unfortunate that people would take a young man's life over what will ultimately be considered petty. I knew Jon for many years, he was a good person, he was honest and open like no one I have ever known. Jon you will be missed rip

.."Rosales also had minor scrapes with the law. According to court records, he had been charged with drunken driving, disorderly conduct and marijuana possession."...

drunken driving and marijuana possession are not MINOR scrapes with the law!

its a shame that johns life was taken at such a young age. i went to school with him and although i dont know him personally i have many friends that do. my deepest sympathy goes out to his family and friends. ive read some of the comments, and reguardless to what people want to speculate, john is someones son, someones brother, someones friend,he has a family. and people should respect that a 23 year old kid was killed. he was just a kid. he had a whole life ahead of him. no ones perfect but he sure didnt deserve what happend. no one deserves that. ive read some comments made on this case and i cant believe how insensitive people can be. imagine if that was your child this happened to?! may god bless his family, and may john rest in peace

Naperville is a rat hole. You brought it on yourself when you started that Ribfest. What dark skinned people eat ribs? Same ones who eat fried chicken and watermellon. Now you got them in town killing white folks. At least you fired that child beating egg roll loving fire chief. Great place to raise kids. If dad don't beat them, mom will burn them to death. And it don't matter if they get arrested. The suicidal drunks in Birkett's office will blow the case and everyone walks free. Sure glad I didn't spend 6 or 7 hundred large to live in one of those sub-standard ghetto cracker boxes. The roach infested town belongs in a Steven King novel.

I lived accross the street from John. I saw the commings and goings. Think of this senario... Car pulls into the drive with 2 young people. One stays in the running car, while the other goes into John's door for between 5 and 10 minutes, returns to the car and they drive off. 15 minutes later, 2 more come in a car...one goes in, one stays out... That could happen 5 to 7 times in one afternoon.

I also saw the Naperville Police use their SWAT team at a dawn raid. I am not joking...after several hours of surveilance of a couple units of Police...one officer who I attended school with, they brought in the "beast" and just like the movies guys jump out with big guns and go to John's He was taken away in a squad after... Not a typical process for a bag of weed... He has a nice slick lawyer but his rap sheet is long--maybe just not convicted, but as a witness I say guilty. I am sorry he was fatally wounded and the killers are roaming free. Nobody deserves that....John deserved time behind bars instead.

If there is truth to these 5, they should be behind bars too...hopefully for a long time...

You are a racist, a bigot, and the king of cruelty.

You should start you own exclusive forum where you and all the other bigots of this world can spew your hatred and none of us have to read about it.

Do us all a favor and go away.

Naperville police announced they have made multiple arrests in connection with the early Tuesday morning shooting death of 23-year-old John Rosales.

The department is holding a 2 p.m. news conference today to announce details of the arrests.

Rosales lived on the 2500 block of Sheehan Drive in the Windridge neighborhood on the city's southwest side.

He was shot in the neck at his home, but fled in his car before crashing it a few blocks away at the intersection of Sheehan and 87th Street. Police said Rosales stumbled from his car and collapsed about 200 feet east in the grassy median of 87th Street.

Rosales' sister, Maria, said her brother was not in a gang and was disappointed by the rampant speculation about her brother's involvement with drugs and other illegal activities.

"I guess we're going to have to expect that," she said, "but people didn't know him."

She said he would often let troubled youths stay with him in the townhouse he lived in that his parents had bought for him. Maria Rosales said two boys were staying with her brother at the time of the shooting.

Rosales' sister said visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home at 516 S. Washington St. in Naperville. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. at Calvary Church in Naperville located at 9S200 Route 59.

To "ANON". John did have MINOR scrapes with the law. This is Naperville, not some Perfect Town USA. If they charged people harder with marijuana posession or underage drinking, practically everyone in Naperville high schools would be guilty. It is unfortunate that so many people, even newspapers, have nothing good to say about John. He was one of the most caring people I've ever met. He helped anyone who needed it. He wasn't perfect but noone is. God bless him and his family. And God bless the ignorant people who show no sympathy towards this tragic situation. We love you John.

All of you who mourn John and respect his soul we thank you. But for all you who beat him down upon his death may you ALL ROT! I am sick to learn about how mean you are all being. Let me ask you this would you not want to be remembered for the good and not the bad? He has past may his soul rest in peace. If it was your son whom was shot and killed would you be upset over the nasty slans against your son? John was not perfect but like someone said above he had a good heart and meant well by everyone his friends and his family! He was the type of person who would bend over backwards for anyone! I pray that all of you have a heart in the future for when your family member is killed! Respect the fact he WAS a good kid and noone deserves this type of battering after something so tragic! John had his whole life ahead of him and now it is gone all you people want to do is butcher his name. You people are pathetic! John may you rest in peace. We love and miss you terribly! My heart and prayers go out to his TRUE FAMILY AND FRIENDS!

some of the things i read here today got me real pissed off. now i know its been over a year since he died, but i use to hang out with john, and for someone who doesnt even know him to say some of the things that were said about him, is just flat wrong. he was a good person. i dont care what anyone says, if it werent for those assholes who shot him i would still be hanging out with him today. dont make judgement on any human being if you dont personally know them. just keep your f--king mouth shut. a man died and you guys just want to frown on him, show some respect.

This is the MOST common sense i've heard in awhile!

I've been telling friends what an uppity-shithole naperville is for at least two decades now.

The decent people of naperville are some of the nicest i've ever known, but the tight-ass,closed-minded upper middle class, first row in church every sunday, spread hatred and ignorance the rest of the week, ruin it for the rest.

The folks that mind their own business and accept others as they are deserve better.
