Has anyone noticed how many of the older employees are retiring? This is part of what the schedule change was all about. Not only did they save a 1/2 million on payroll, but they also get rid of the older folks that have been there for 35 or 40 years. These folks are the people that put clopay on the map. Really, Clopay was a little window shade company before the augusta plant was started. Now these people are usless to them. I'll BET the JEW BASTERDS in new york are doing a jig.

The big problem is that when all the senior operators retire they will have nothing but new hires and very few people who know how to handle and fix the problems with the lines. Clopay will be closing its doors within a few years. They wont be able to meet deadlines or quality and the customers will go elsewhere. They need to do a complete management overhaul and get people who will try to make it a better place to work. There are good people who work down there be it very few and i will hate to see them lose their jobs. But i think it is inevitable. No one with any real intelligence or talent will apply to work there anymore so they have to hire degenerates and they will not be able to rely on the few good operators and the joke that is management and processing to keep the place competitive. They will continue to make the health care worse, the working conditions will remain poor and they will work their employees to death. The end is near.

The employees that work three APPLIED for their jobs. They came to Clopay asking if they could work there. Clopay didnt beg for them.
Employees arent owed anything but money for the work they have done. Jobs are hard to come by and they should be thankful they have a job. If management was so bad you wouldnt be some of the few that still had jobs.
Count your blessings, and if it is so bad, the employees would find another job.

all it is the employees are starting to have to earn their pay. Any time of the day you could go down by there and see a half dozen or so sitting on a bench outside the plant. Now you are realizing what the big world is and if you don't like it quit and they will get a bunch of Mexicans to do your job for less than half your wages and don't ever think you cannot be replaced

Clopay thinks they can get away with anything and do anything to its employees because there is no where else to work. And from the the responses it seems as though you people seem alright with that. The way it is going there will be no clopay and you will all be out of jobs soon.

About Clopay the place was alway just a meat house. So many families were broken up in that place that it is horrible. Getting married having a job, family and a long life togther is the dream of most young girls. If this is your dream "Don't let your spouse work at Clopay!"

Just what planet are you living on?

Are you not aware that we are in a significant recession?

Are you not aware that since Mafta, manufacturing has been leaving the USA?

Are you not aware that other plastic companies have failed?

All this childish whinning!

If you don't like it, and you think there are better places to work, then do not work at Clopay.

Sure, some things could be done better, no question. People working there could also open up their eyes to the world around them, and start appreciating what they have!

If you are working at Clopay, be glad you have a job, one you are not having to drive to the city for every day.

Grow Up!

As a nation we have 10 million more people than we did 10 years ago, yet today, we have the same number of jobs we had 10 years ago. Be glad you have a job and do your part the make the job the best it can be instead of crying for your mom.

I agree. Facts has the facts. Look at what the UAW has done to the auto industry. If you have any job now enjoy it, and try to keep the company in the black. Too many Americans have the "us and them" mentality. When Bill Clinton signed NAFTA and expanded GATT we have been losing jobs every year.
Before 1973 the US was the worlds manufacturing leader in almost everything. When the crooks in Washington sold out to Japan we started losing ground.

i should have stated i no longer work at clopay, i moved on to a better line of employment. I know some of you do not have the option of finding another job and you are stuck at clopay. My main point was that they need a management overhaul (again)or the current one will run the factory into the ground.
