Having just moved to Augusta from a relatively short lifetime (32 years) of living in the Northern states, I'm a bit shocked at the mentality down here. I've been here for almost a month now, and I've asked almost every person I've met about where I can recycle and not one person could give me an answer. The building manager at my apartment complex told me that they simply don't recycle and to toss everything into the dumpster.

My realtor told me that Augusta is "behind" other metro areas, such as in California by around 20 years, but come on! This is absolutely astonishing and absurd. I refuse to believe that the people of the beautiful city of Augusta are unaware of the threats that face our planet, or just simply belligerent. Maybe I'm missing something? Some super secret recycling program that no one knows about?

I've lived in well over 20 different cities by now, and I can't remember even one city that didn't have a mandatory recycling program. What is wrong with Augusta?
