Oh boy it just gets better and better. When will people wake up and see those in there are just out for personal agendas. I used to be proud to say I am from Alexandria, now I hide it. I say citizens take back your town, fire each and everyone of them and start over. And lock out the old town cronies and maybe something can get done.

I still want to know why council and the mayor are afraid of an investigation of violation of the ORC. The evidence has been provided. Are they afraid they are next?

just goes to show how much the council knows the altitude valve is not in the water tower it's in the water line on Granville street that supplies the village,The water tank in Alexandria has been turned off for 2 weeks.

Stop lying to the good people of Alexandria, If you don't know what your talking about don't just make something up.You been on council for how long?

Its a shame to see Hicks leave as he was one of the "sharpest knives in the drawer", this young man jumped in the fire a couple times to get things handled that were being back burnered. Regarding locking out some of the "old cronies" if it wasn't for them there would be a bigger mess in Alexandria. Numerous police issues have finally been dealt with but not completed that the others turned a deaf ear to or were snowballed in to believing there was nothing wrong. You are right in saying that the people need to take the town back as it has already happened. You can bet with a couple of the new council memebers that are there now things will be closer reveiwed and proper actions will be taken as they have no other special intrests other than fixing the mess others created. The water issues have been ongoing since 1973 partially from improper installation done when they brought the water to town. I think the last elcetion when the police levy failed told the whole story. I also think that the next election will be another step in the right direction with new candidates for all open offices coming on board and most of these people have been attending council meetings for some time now. Starting over is in progress and progress is being made but just like everything else it didn't get messed up over night and won't get fixed over night but its finally headed in the right direction. They definately need the ORC investigation I think will better explain the issues being dealt with and the changes required to fix it. Water bills are fianally being handled properly but its going to be hard to shut off some ones water when they let an elected official go 14 months with out paying and no shut off was done. They will have to be careful how thats handled. The new mayor was thrown into a mess and has done a pretty good job as of now of dealing with the problems. If your ashamed of Alexandria forget us as you can easily be forgotten as well.

Looks like the rugs have been lifted and are being shaken out!
Perhaps the town can now get back to business at hand playing by the rules???

Agreed just remember when you shake out the rugs there are sometimes bugs and when you take the stir stick to the out house some old items float back to the top of the surface.

Does anybody want details? We could not afford to keep the building on Granville St. repaired, so we bought the bank on Main St. repaired and remodeled without permits and now are in deeper. We bought a $7000 computer program 3 years ago that doesn'nt even distinguish between accounts owned by the same person and nobody can figure it out. We are now replacing it with a $6000 program. We can't afford to fix our water leaks so what now. We suddenly have $21000(state grant) for a gravel path in the park. No bids, no written contract. One sweetheart deal for the amount of the grant. No concern was given about state tax money either and mayor refuses to investigate. Can you say incompetance and cowardice in the same reply?

How about some more details? When the village funded the fundraiser for Park Palooza(beer party), they lost over $700. Does that mean we just spent tax money to buy beer for the participants? And what happened to the $380 worth of t-shirts? Remember, anybody can request copies of the letters I sent to council or any other public record. Mayor Lee told me in open session that the village doesn't have time for all these public requests. My response was, You don't have a choice." These are our records, not his. Demand them, fellow citizens. They work for us, not us for them. From reading the minutes since November til present, I think they violated the Open Meetings Act 4 times. Anybody want to file for $2000 and legal fees?

Sounds to me like someone was sold a bill of goods on their $7,000.00 computer program. This should have been noticed from the begining of running the water bills had the water clerk been doing her job but we all know from the delinquencies of some of the water bills that wasn't happening or there would not have been water bills in excess of $2500.00. They should have made the person who sold them the boggus program get them one that would work instead of blowing another $6,000.00 on another one. Its always easier to spend money though when its someone elses. Why was some one not held accountable for the purchase. A good audit would have heads spinning like the girl in the exorcist! Then we could see how much of our tax monies have been mis handeled although were getting a pretty good veiw of it now. I am still in belief that some of the water lines were disrupted during the sewer installation fiasco. I do know there are storm sewers damaged that were never repaired by the people who installed the sewers as well. Shoiuld have just let the county have it when they wanted it our water / sewer bills wouldn't have been any higher for sure. Stan your right they need the ORC in there!

Now to another point look at who benifited from the remodeling of the bank building.

let a small child fall down into one of those storm sewers that were never repaired or replaced and get badly hurt then see what happens.
Then where does the finger get pointed??? who done it? or who forgot to do anything about it? who should have fixed it yada yada yada
Does it have to take someone going into one of those holes to get them repaired?
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Have you ever really look at an iceberg? It goes and goes and goes just like all the things that are coming to light in our fair burb Alex. Hopefully soon there will be a light at the end of the tunnel and it won't be the freight train. GOOD LUCK ALEX you need it
Now will that be plain or buttered?

They would love to gag me but the latest gag is in the new bidding process for the park walking trail. There is a clause in it that contractors are only allowed to talk to the park board about the process. Park Board chairwoman does not believe in the first amendment, aparantly. I believe she is trying to avoid a lawsuit from the person awarded the verbal contract.

He was the village administrator who worked his butt off but clashed with the mayor and lost the battle but is very well read and will make a good mayor, he probably knows the administrative end better than anyone else there.

Hate to tell you but he was never on council. The term past council members can cover a lot of territory and a lot of good people.

Most of the problem started when communication between responsible offices stopped communicating such as department heads (clerks), council and the mayor. When the clerks don't let the council know about financial issues then the council is working blind folded, then when it does finally come to a head everyone looks stupid except the person creating the problem. You can not blame people who have been out of office for any long period of time for the mess they have to deal with now. That belongs to who ever was in office when it fell apart Its going to take a lot of time and evaluation to fix the problems they are dealing with. You have a sewer project that has over run its allocated budget thus creating tremendous water/sewer bills You also have a problem with workman ship of this sewer lacks terribly and is incomplete. There are storm sewers that were damaged and not fixed. There have been water breaks after breaks and can some one explain why there wasn't these issues before the sewer was installed. Now who ever was was over seeing this was grossly over paid, and I am not talking of any council people or the mayor that falls on either the highly paid engineers who master minded all of this or the contractor who got paid for a finished job that wasn't finished. Where it falls back on council and the mayor is they had the right to hold their payment until it was satisfactory to all. But again if the council is misinformed then things get handled wrong and bills get paid that shouldn't. They used to be gone over at the council meetings and that seems to have fell by the wayside . Hind site being 20/20 or better the village would have way ahead to have turned it over to the county, they would have saved hundreds of thousands of dollars and your water sewer bill would be no higher than it is right now and the county would have put water in at the same time replacing all of our rigged waterlines we have there now because it would have been supervised.
