I went here to watch the Braves and Falcons game and found myself being threatened by the owner of the restaurant. Apparently his girlfriend was among a group of women that were dancing to songs played by a hired DJ. I happened to politely move through the group of ladies back to my seat when I received a visit from the man identifying himself as the owner of the establishment. He told me to stay away from one particular woman who I observed, throughout my time there, to be exclusively with him. I had never spoken to this woman or had any interaction with her whatsoever. I told him that I didn't even know the woman he spoke of and that I had never even spoken to her. He acted as if his ownership of the bar gave him the right to tell me who I could interact with and who I couldn't . I stated my rights as a US citizen and let him know I wouldn't be coerced by his unacceptable demand. A few minutes later, he walked by and continued to show his disdain for my stand against him. I stood my ground and he told me I had to leave. I was never loud or out of order in any way and I told him that he didn't have the right so he threatened to call the police on me. I left the scene assuming that he had some type of favor with the local police and did not even want to chance challenging them since he seemed so confident to run off and call them as if I did something wrong. Be sure that I will be questioning the mayor and city council about the relationship between this business and the local law enforcement.

Uninspired menu, no baked potatoes instead you get a pile of instant mashed potatoes, if they are not instant they taste like they are. The bar staff is nice and the beer is cold. As far as pretty waitresses go I would rather have better food on the menu.

Sounds to me like neither one of you really know him or his girlfriend......Very nice man and as far as his girlfriend I have talked to her several times and shes not the type to cheat and she is also very sweet and nice. Misunderstanding that night I assume and such harsh words against people you dont know

Agree with person above. Owner is known to watch the place continuously from closed circuit TV from his home. He calls the cops the moment he sees a bartender get angry (or HEAR it -- there is audio too).
One bartender is his sister.
The place is a sausage-fest. I've been there perhaps 6-8 times since they have opened, and have never seen a single female in the place - though they always say "oh... you should have been her on XXXDay!"
The food is decent - I've had their chicken philly and some other items, like chips/salsa (it's just salsa)- but I've seen Auburn police there THREE TIMES in my visits, and they have hauled away people who were no more argumentative than the guy above described. There always seemed to be an underlying "previous experience" with each case (including/especially one time - when the girlfriend was also hauled away for getting emotional outside about what the cops were doing- and she had a toddler. They took her away too under some ridiculous guise for protesting their treatment.
I don't even know what happened to the kid.

George and I went to the Dakotas Bar and Grill in Monroe, NC. It is in the former Sagebrush building and we were told the same owners owned both. Sagebrush had gotten such a bad reputation for poor quality food and high prices that it probably would have closed anyway.

We like the decor of Dakotas. They did a good job transforming from Sagebrush into Dakotas. The waitresses were wearing very short, very tight bluejean shorts the night we went. It was sort of embarrassing and I felt sorry for the girl who waited on us because some men at the bar were staring at her bottom like perverted lechers. I'm sure they were saying rude things to. She kept tugging at her shorts. The whole scene was embarrassing. My husband, George, said he liked it but he is sometimes dirty minded.

We thought some of the prices were high for this class of restaurant. Dakota's is along the lines of a Longhorn or Pondorosa and the prices are about the same. Drink prices were a little higher than competitors for sodas and ice tea. I didn't look at alcohol prices.

The steaks we ordered came out in a reasonable amount of time. Our waitress did not bring them out. An older, large woman who was not dressed in a skimpy pair of shorts thank goodness brought them out. George's steak was supposed to be medium but it was overcooked. Mine was medium and about right. my steak was very tough and didn't have much flavor. George didn't complain about his being tough but kept saying it was overcooked.

We did not see our waitress at all. She did not come to refill our drinks or check on us. It was not because the place was busy either. When I ran out of soda I kept looking for her but finally stopped a boy cleaning tables and asked him if I could get a refill. He sent another waitress I had not seen before who refilled my glass. We did not see our waitress from the time she took our order until she presented us the bill.

We usually give a restaurant 2 chances before saying we will never go back but it will be a long time before we go back to Dakotas. High prices for less than average food and poor service won't earn our business!

I had a meal at the bar yesterday . It was their ribeye steak with loaded potatoes (no baked potatoes on menu) and green beans. The steak was cooked as I ordered and seasoned as such I didn't need to add sauce.

The place wasn't busy at the time and the bar had Maybe five other people sitting there. The bartender a young woman as attentive but not flirtatious , when not attending to her customers needs she was cleaning her work station. My only complaint is I really wanted a baked potato.

This was a improvement over my last visit in 2010
