Vision For Keeseville
Remsen, NY
|
Has anyone visited the new Maxwell's Coffee house in Keeseville? Unlike perhaps other coffee shops or restaurants that provide coffee this is a must visit. Maybe the cups of coffee are not .99 cents but to pay a bit more and enjoy the surrounding and friendly service is well worth it to me. A truly family surrounding. They not only serve coffee however, they sell meticulously prepared subs, fruit cups with fresh fruit/yogurt & granola, smoothies, michigans, salads and new to their menu will be chili and many other items. Had the pleasure to go to a first I have seen in this area in a long time a true family entertainment that including the next American Idol hopeful Ben Blaise play his acoustic guitar and voice that is true talent from Keeseville. I say to the Benware family that this is something Keeseville needs and a start to the future of Keeseville. A true Vision of Keeseville that will take Keeseville into the next generation. Keep up the good work!

Don't suppose "visit for keeseville" is related to the owner! It's a coffee shop, somewhere to get expensive coffee that takes too long to get! Next generation? Unfortunately, I'd be shocked if it's still there next year. I wish them the best of luck, but this is a hard town to start a business in and a coffee shop is probably not going to grow at the rate needed to survive.

Hat's off to the new owner to start this coffee shop. It's not about becoming a millionare in Keeseville or perhaps the next Starbucks It's about supporting ones family and being brave enough to venture out into such a scary endeavor in this town and with the economy the way it is. I believe it's a positive step in the right direction. I wish there were more brave ones to step up to the plate and start a business in this town.

Kudos to the family for trying to better their status and the community, but look at the facts. How many "brave" ones have started a business in this town, kept it going and profitted from it rather than failing and ending up with tons of debt? Good luck though!

I wish them the best of luck too. But I here a McSweeneys is going to open where Mace's Restaurant use to be. I've lived in Keeseville for about 30 years and have seen alot of businesses open and close. People try to make money fast and you can't do that in a small town, where most people are low to middle income.

I too wish maxwell's coffee house the best of luck. I too have seen business's come and go in this small town and pretty much anywhere-usa. Take Arnold's store for an example. They have been a family owned and operated business for as long as I can remember and alive. Not millionaires by no means however, provide a service for people of this community as well as friendly family owned business. Maxwell's is providing a service and surviving in these trying times. Again, hats off to the Benware family for having the inspiration and guts to open a business in Keeseville. Maybe they can be the inspiration to other business owner's.

There is no future for Keeseville. It is a terrible crap hole. I lived there for many years until I escaped to civilization. I came back to visit once with a boyfriend and he coudnt believe the way people live there. A coffee shop is not going to help dirty old k-city at all. Try blowing it up.

to who says it take to long to get an expensive cup of coffee at maxwells that it will not last one year.. what do you do?? sit home and do nothing better then to bring others down... you walk in to Maxwell's and you get a cup of coffee and it takes as long as it takes to pour a cup so i do not know where you are coming from... it is a clean place to sit and enjoy a good hot fresh cup of coffee and chit chat with others. it is not owned by the Benware family. it is owned by a daughter of the Benware's that wanted to bring something good to the town of keeseville. If you are jelous that you did not think about it then go start your own business. Maxwell's is not trying to compete or take business away from anyone else in the town of keeseville it is a young lady that is trying to make a living and pay her bills like we all have to do. kodos to her for atleast getting off the couch and trying. she went to college and is now using her degree that she is paying for because she was not one of the lucky ones who got everything for free. why can't people support and be happy that someone is willing to give something new to a good town and has the courage to try... instead of bringing them down. honestly

Please don't crucify me because of my post. I am not trying to insult but only to ask questions. I have not yet had the chance to check out this new coffee shop. I typically give my business to small places as opposed to the walmarts of the world. I haven't stepped foot in a walmart in years. The problem with the small business' is often they do not provide the services of a larger chain. Does this new place offer free wifi? Is this a store or just a coffee shop. What can I get there? Do they have a website? What about advertising? I have never seen an ad for them or their menu. Usually I like to know what places like this are all about. It would be nice to get a little more info. Regardless I will have to check it out.

Happy to see people giving "small business" a chance. Especially in Keeseville as it hasn't been getting a good rap lately. As a citizen, tax payer, homeowner as well as small business owner hat's off for this. Keeseville can be a better place and it will be people like Heidi that takes that chance and let's not forget other business such as Arnold's Grocery who has been around for years that stay in business as well as the hair dresser. Hat's off to you. Thanks.

No need to get nasty. I simply stated my opinion. I have a good job. I don't run my own business, but in turn, I don't have to worry about my business failing either. I hope she does well with it, I just don't see it happening in this town. It does take too long to get an expensive cup of coffee, facts are facts. When I want to stop and grab a cup of coffee in the morning on my way to work, I don't have time to sit and "chit-chat". Check your spelling with all that time you have.

In life you should stop and smell the roses. Sit for that cup of coffee and perhaps have a chat with a neighbor. Remember, life is toooo short to rush it through. Yes, I do agree owning your own business it may fail yet, working for a company these days might have just as good a chance of failing. Anyhow, not criticizing. I just hate seeing people rush through life to get to work and not stop and smell the roses.
