Take the ear buds out and watch where you walk. A little common sense can go along way...like saving your life.

Let's ban trains. After all, they kill far more people each year than those allowed to "conceal and carry".

Walking on the tracks with earplugs in...something about nature weeding out the stupid would apply here.

I think Amy Klobuchar is spearheading legislation that would ban trains from going over 5 mph, and they would have to stop and intersections.

It is amazing how quiet the officials are who had advocated and built this train over the years.
Just to put in in prospective: 11 people DIED and all they come up with is "She says people need to be reminded how dangerous it is to walk on or near railroad tracks."

In 60 years of NHL Hockey, 1 (ONE) spectator was killed by a flying puck and within months all arenas had to have netting behind the goals.

I don't have the answer as to what the solution might be but the very people who are in charge of this would be screaming if cars were to kill those 11 people. But NO, their baby train is never at fault....

And not one of them was wearing a helmet.
Please, please pedestrians - always wear a helmet!

I disagree, Jimmy, you DO have the answer! We need to put up nets along every inch of railroad track in the US!

Look, it comes down to simple carelessness on the part of the deceased. I still do what my parents taught me decades ago when I was a kid - look both ways before crossing the street or railroad tracks.

There is an organization for railroad-pedestrian safety?
What a useless waste of money.
Guarantee some state politician is begging funds for these people.
another gov't funded waste of money.

If a person gets hit by a train it is natures way of saying you are way to stupid to be living on this earth. Trains go in one of two directions and can't swerve to hit you. It's really pretty simple.

Well really there is a simple solution, keep the trains and let people walk too. Have a foot bridge over the tracks, we see them all over the Twin Cities why not in all places ? Have real gate guards that come down well in advance to clear all foot and cars truck etc. Trains and other things really do not have to cross at all. But then this would cost money, so let em die right instead of having the money spent.

Just wait until light rail is installed down University.
All the Brothers and Sisters who just walk out in front of your car today, will not be able to break that habit.
The Train will get them.
The very train the lefties are building to protect these poor citizens.

Oh wait! They are NOT COUNTING the light rail fatalities!
I smell bias here. They are reporting only TRAINS, not light rail....

I also foresee dozens more being slaughtered each year by light rail trains rampaging back and forth on University Avenue and ricocheting through the streets of downtown St. Paul. The horror!

i think they're forgetting to include the death-toll incurred by the murderous light rail transit. that monster has slaughtered several innocent people every year it's been in existence.

There are at least 11 people who are living with these deaths every day. It never goes away. Some will be unable to go back to work. The story of the terror, the helplessness, the coulda shouldas in the cab of the locomotives, that story is never written.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Aquarius

This is another day when financial matters cause trouble, as Mars reverses in your seventh house. What started off as a minor niggle with a partner or an opponent yesterday could now escalate into a full-blown row, but at least this will give you the chance to get certain things out into the open. Legal issues from the past may become ugly. If you're pointing the finger of blame at someone, don't get so heated that you accuse them of everything under the sun.
