Anyone living in Attleboro that is interested in improving and maintaining the quality of life here should be interested in this proposed ordinance.
Every forward thinking city has some sort of residential noise ordinance in place, it is to reign in the thoughtless, selfish people who disturb great numbers of city residents.
Won't you Please help in this cause, voice your support by calling your city council rep. and telling them to support the Residential Noise ordinance. Thankyou.

You can call city hall, and leave a message
with the City Council secretary.

The residential noise ordinance will not affect the average person, this is for the boom cars, cycles without mufflers, outside loud stereos, it is not directed towards normal noise of everyday life.

This is more correctly spoken of as a 'Noise Pollution' type ordinance, it will not impede the average person, it is to get rid of Noise pollution.

As the City grows, so does the population, and congestion, this ordinance is needed to insure quality of life in Attleboro, to define what is an intrusive noise, and does give the police a better remedy to deal with offenders.

Please tell your council rep. you support this ordinance.

Well, there they go, trying to scare people, saying you wont be able to mow your lawn, you wont be able to do normal activities in your yard....typical scare monger tactics.......they dont want the ordinance because it will make them have to curtail some of their bad habits. Not too hard to figure out why they would oppose a common sense ordinance.

This ordinance sounds like a great idea! Where I live (in Attleboro) there is one neighbor who has succeeded in ruining the summers for the rest of us. They play loud offensive Rap music (f this n word, f that n word) at high decibels in front of their own children and ride a loud dirt bike up and down the street repeatedly. If they want to be white trash I can’t stop them, but when my 8 year old is asking my what “bustin a cap in some f ing n word’s dome” means; I have a problem with that. Their landlord doesn’t do anything. The police won’t do anything other then ask them to turn it down, which they do until the police drive away. Having something like this in place would give us “home owners” not tenants right to enjoy the property we pay taxes for each year. Especially since most of us can’t sell our houses and move to a better town right now. I have lived in this town for 10 years now and while Dumas has made great strides in making it a better place to live. I think that this noise ordinance is what Attleboro really needs. That an a limitation on the number of pets someone can have.

You describe a very bad situation, your family will benefit greatly if this ordinance is enacted, please call your council rep, if you dont know who that is, call city hall, ask for the city council secretary, she can give you their number, or leave a message with her to give to your rep.

The problem with not having a noise ordinance is that the police are somewhat helpless in this situation, as you said, they treat this as a distrubance of the peace, that's about as far as it goes, the offenders don't really respect the police, they know how the game is played, they really need limits set, for the social good of the neighborhood, no one should be able to ruin the peaceful environment of the neighborhood. This city will be reduced to a ghetto if all of this bad behaviour is let go. The good people of the city of Attleboro just cant let that happen. Call your rep, or the city council secretary, please!! thanks!!

Why should landlords be the only ones that can complain about noise. If you are a renter, landlord or any US citizen residing in the city limits that the proposed ordinence is in you should have the right to complain about offensive noise also.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Scorpio

You're in a very romantic and sentimental state today. You're also feeling quite sensitive and vulnerable, so you won't want to be around anyone you find abrasive or aggressive. If you meet someone for the first time now you'll think they're wonderful and your relationship will always involve putting them on a pedestal. But don't be too idealistic. They are human, remember!
