As the truth is coming out about the credibility of all the hoopla generated by the ban lobbyists sponsored by big pharma., these bans seem to be slowing down. It's about time.

Atlantic city is a town meant for fun and relaxation. You take away that and well you could gamble in your friends basement and save a load of money. Do you think AC spent all this money for better hotels and more comfort with the expectations of less people coming?

I don't smoke but this is just common sense. Maybe next they will ban buffet's.

What's common sense? Who said SMOKING = CASINOS?
Maybe in the 1970's and 80's but today less than 20 percent of the population smokes. Casinos need to be marketing to the 80% of the population, hellllooooooo!! Doesn't take rocket science to figure that out.
Oh and you don't smoke like I have a 12 incher.

well then if they want to lose 20% which you think is small then I guess they will start the ban today. According to the article we just read they think otherwise.

Here in Illinois, many casino workers now enjoy all the smoke free air they want to since they got laid off.

I went to Foxwwods last month. After 4 hours the smoke was killing my eyes and throat. So I left.

I guess my money isn't as good as someone who smokes.

Apparently not, or the casinos wouldn't be losing money on the smoke ban.

Now that we have that settled -- let's let the owners get back to running their own (formerly profitable) businesses.

I hear ya, and my money won't be spent somewhere they still allow smoking, how 1970's can you get.
Wake up Casinos, you can modernize, rebuild, redecorate all you want but until you get rid of the nasty harmful smoke everything will be the same old same old, same old gamblers that are getting poorer and poorer. Why not go after where the money is, Fresh Money, the NON-SMOKERS.
Granted for years it's been very easy to get smokers hooked on gambling. Now that 80% of the population doesn't smoke it's time to target the non-smokers. What the heck are the marketing exec's doing at the casinos anyway? They need to wake up before AC is just a memory.

I go there six, maybe seven times a year. I wasn't going anymore along with everyone I know. We all said, than God for the indians, they know how to take care of everyone and avoid the fanatics who are trying to get their pet fantasy passed. Odds are the anti whacko's don't gamble either, everything fun or enjoyable is bad. You would be amazed to find out how many people do smoke. Most buy from the net or a reservation, many buy brands made by the tribes.
The number of smokers is way up because they are cheap again. The anti smoker political push is going to start going down. Thank God, we will get back to preserving human rights even if a few obsessed losers don't agree with it.

You MAY be right that 20% of todays population are non-smokers.

However in todays economy, there is a huge number,
which equals many people w/disposible spending $$$"s w/a personal smoking habit who will not spend a cent anywhere they are not accepted.

You ANTIS push on have the "mantra of one state at a time"-----we who smoke, along as w/others who don't smoke---but won't go along w/govt interferance re owners rights---push all you want, there are many who can & will push back by not going & spending our very sort after $$$'s.

You smokers sure haven't help the smokey casinos in CT, casinos need to change their mindset and target the 80% of the people that don't smoke.

Mashantucket Tribe to cut 700 casino employees printer friendly
Citing a drop in revenues and the downturn in the national economy, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut is laying off 700 gaming employees, or about 6 percent of the workforce.

The cut will affect jobs at all areas of the Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand at Foxwoods. The MGM facility just opened in May.

Connecticut's two tribal casinos have been hurt by dwindling slot machine runs over the past several months. The Mohegan Tribe suspended a major expansion of the Mohegan Sun casino due to economic woes.

When they instituted the 25% smoking area for the casino, I walked around. I noticed a LARGE decrease in the number of people sitting and playing on the slots. THAT is where the casino makes their money. They lost a TON of money and the total ban will put them out of business. THEN maybe New York will legalize a casino on Long Island OR AT LEASE Poker ROOMS. We want GOOD CLEAN ADULT FUN close to home. KEEP THE JOBS AND REVENUE ON LONG ISLAND

To a point I agree w/you re all drop in revenues re casinos & retail spending.

As husband & I are retired, have a nice income w/savings, SS,+ invested income (yes even in todays enconomy) we are doing ok----we do have money to spend.

What we WON'T do is go & spend our money in an enviorment that is so called "polictally correct" w/an ANTI SMOKE BAN in an adult enviornment.

You ANTIS can go on an on re an employees health---but bottom line these people knew & chose the enviornment they applied & accepted employment.

Now they're crying?

Well that should give the smoke-haters time to invest their OWN money into smoke-free casinos shouldn't it, they were NEVER banned from doing so were they.
freedom2choose.info for tolerant non-smokers and smokers alike
The antis promised they would fill the pubs in the UK, they did not, they also do not compensate the hospitality business should they go bankrupt even though they have been forced into these bans.
forces.org and many others will fight for the truth and choice
