I would hope we are talking US citizens here, and no others. Our tax money is already covering way more than we can afford. I don't get any help with my hospital bills, and I have worked for 35 years, am a US citizen, and a taxpayer.

I was born to parents that did not have health insurance, just goes to show how this country over caters too children anymore, and I agree with you dm,it seems there adults how there who could use the coverage because they have health problems and they go without insurance, but lets make sure these healthy newborns are covered.

That is the way it seems anymore, just like an adult could be dying or severly ill and not able to get treatment because of no insurance, but lets make sure these kids are covered.

Too that government assistance should only be used if you have an ongoing health problem that needs treatment, and it shouldn't matter what age you are.And as for children,if they are born healthy then their mom and dad can pay for their check ups,As for vaccines if you have no insurance you can take them to the department of health and get them done for 20 dollars.

So now parents are MANDATED to have health insurance for their children? And if they don't, the children will not be released from the hospital?
Where is the choice? Many parents who are small business owners simply cannot afford the insurance, yet they are too "wealthy" to get the freebie insurance ( I would not want it free anyhow because I beleive we should all take responsibility to earn what we get). There are many of us who face the hard choice between maintaining a safe, reasonable standard of living, or paying for health insurance. For many of us, the option to not carry health insurance is the best option, although not desirable. By not paying the outrageous premium dollars, we then have money to provide our children with a higher standard of living and have money to pay-as-you-go for health care. Please do not think that a higher standard of living means excess. Literally, if we had to pay those premiums, some of which are higher than a mortgage, we could not afford the "necessities" like a landline phone, decent clothing, electricity, heat, healthy food. We need AFFORDABLE, voluntary health insurance in this country. No freebies (remember nothing is free-your tax dollars pay for it), no mandates. Our government is taking the WRONG approach. A healthy child can get great healthcare without health insurance. The only exception is if the child has a long-term or terminal illness which I am willing to sacrifice my tax dollars for.

Being pregnant with my first at 37 I am now in a quandry, working the usual 40 hours is becoming exhausting- yet I have to in order to afford BASIC insurance AND the basics of life- when I looked into Family Care-maternity insurance, the MAX monthly income allowed for husband and wife was only $1600! My husband and I live frugally and we WORK therefore we get nothing. As a service prof I have visited unmarried couples living together, doing nothing but watching tv and arguing, but somehow they get handed everything. oh yeah, they go to the Dr and go on disability for "anger issues!" can you believe it?!

as long as we keep electing liberal democrats nothing will change. Keep working, Keep paying and by all means keep those handouts coming. Now that retard Nancy Pelosi wants to extend social security benefits to illegal aliens, who never paid a dime in taxes. Buckle up! it is only going to get worse.

Daily Horoscope for December 5

Taurus

This is a day for turning your attention to your finances, especially if you're currently working on the budget for domestic improvements or changes. Talk to the other people concerned and really listen to what they're saying. They'll have some great insights. It will be far more productive to work as a harmonious team rather than as warring factions.
