FDR got us out of the depression by spending!
Spending like a mad man on social and infrastructure programs. Sure we ended up with some debt but it ended the depression.
FDR was the most enlightened and socially responsible pres we have ever had.
Now we have Obama, another man of profound enlightenment. It is not for you to question but to pick up a shovel and help carry the burden so we can build again.
Obama is a pure genius. The new stimulus and other programs announced today will help us out of the Bush depression.

well, 200 economists say that it won’t work.

even FDR's treasury secretary said that spending made the depression lat longer than it should have.

History proves your "theory" wrong.

and tell me where you got your economic degree

Obama has created a cult like following in America. If you asked many of his flock what is government polices are they could not provide any logical answer. The constant media hype about him and conducting interviews with his lemmings on radio and television is almost Stalinist / Jamestownish in manner.(At this point Obama could take a dump on the White House lawn, wipe his butt with the American Flag, and have Osama over for a slumber party in the Lincoln Bedroom. His followers and news media would support these actions.) If anyone questioned him or made negative comments about his actions the response is always the same “You are racist.”One radio show actually went on the streets of Harlem asking people ridiculous questions like

“What do you think of Obama appointing Marion Barry as Secretary of State?”

The answer all provided was that it was a good decision and I support him. This is exactly the answer I would expect in such an environment. The same answer would also be provided in black majority cities like Detroit, Washington D.C., and Atlanta. The facts are many blacks voted for Obama strictly because of the color of his skin and have no idea of his governmental policies either foreign or domestic.

The real trick Obama accomplished was having the millions of liberal whites fall for his propaganda. This was also accomplished with the help of the news media and celebrities. If you are looking to Oprah, Tom Cruise, or Sean Penn for voting guidance than you should not be casting any vote. Unfortunately this country allows uneducated and uninformed people to caste votes when they have no idea how their vote may effect the future and other Americans.

Liberals and the media seem to think that everyone voted for the Messiah Obama. Well 52.9% did but 45.6% did not. This shows that there still was and or is a substantial amount of the US population that did not fall for the Obama hype.

Bush was certainly not the greatest President of the United States, but the United States has made a horrible decision voting Obama into office. The next four years will lead to nothing but a weaker United States both at home and abroad.

opinions are like #$%sh(*&s, everyone has one

It's interesting that a handful of people on these boards feel they have a monopoly on the truth and can predict doom for the US all because of our new President. Believe me, if any of them were that good, they'd have the winning lotto numbers and be on an island in the Caribbean instead of posturing and screaming on these boards.

I think we should print out all their statements of how the US is going Socialist, it's the end of the world, our President is evil, Palin will be our next President,(or plug in ridiculous rant/accusation of your choice) and wait until their predictions DON'T happen and remind them. Not that it will do any good.

I've read posts by people who put forth lies as facts (hey, surrounding your lies in quotation marks and putting a 'source' after it doesn't make it true), and get angrier and nastier as people question them. When we do stuff like this, we are stooping lower than the crap we are screaming against.

No one can tell someone else they are not a good American, or that they should stop posting, or leave the country, or take their meds, etc., ESPECIALLY since they do so under the cover of being anonymous.

I guess what I'm trying to say, is that I can't take someone seriously that calls me names for disagreeing with them or has to insist it's 'my way or the highway' to everything.

Buck up. Barack Obama is our President. He won't be impeached because some right-wing tax evading nut bag thinks he isn't a citizen. The US will not suddenly be overrun with Communists. Obama is NOT Muslim, or the devil, nor is he the 'Messiah' or the 'Chosen One'(nomenclature given by his opposition, not his supporters). If we could stop acting like spoiled children and help our communities and others instead of 'where's mine?','if others get welfare and don't work, why should I do anything' or any number of waaa waaa stuff people post, we might succeed at crawling out of this mess.

However, if you feel justified in just being angry because your candidate isn't in the White House, and all you offer the country is bile and hatred, YOU are part of the problem.

Who cares what those economists think?
This is what the majority voted for...maybe you didn’t get the memo...Obama Won!
Were going to get change.
This will work because Obama knows what he is doing and says it can.
If it fails then the blame rests with greedy people like you who would not share the wealth, equalize the prosperity and shoulder your socially responsible share.

who are the 200 economists? Do you have a list? History doesn't prove a theory wrong, by the way. That is impossible, unless you've developed Time Travel.

Not that it matters, because I'm sure you will find some insult to my background and education, but I spent years doing independent and secondary research into 20th Century US Social History (and earned a Graduate Degree with top honors), so I think I can opine on this. I also took entire Graduate-level courses on FDR and the New Deal, and I say YOU are wrong.

So, you can say I'm wrong, as it's your right, like you said the other poster was wrong, but it's my right to say YOU are wrong, because my own research shows you to be wrong.

Since you read a book, you are so much smarter than the rest of us. Even though the New deal helped drag out the depression longer than it need to be, you can continue to believe what you wish.

Government is not capable of fixing the economy that their policies ruined. The private sector did not cause this, but thats what they want you to believe. Continue to look to Government for the answers and you are now a slave to it.
Yes the government (Phil Gramm) allowed the private sector to run amuck, but it was the private sector that over leveraged itself, invented scammy derivatives, and puffed up the economy to the failure point.
When you know what SIVs and CDOs are we can talk more.
Otherwise you are just a slave to corporate America, that dumps on taxpayers every 10 years or so.

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Capricorn

Someone is in a finger-wagging mood and unfortunately they seem to be concentrating on you! Maybe they think you've fallen from grace for some reason, or perhaps you're simply the only person who happens to be around when they feel like letting off steam. Do your best not to fall into an equally critical and disgruntled mood, because it will soon make you feel wretched.
