Congrats to: Grandview Heights, Lewis Center, Marble Cliff, Powell, Westerville & others that understand October 31st is Halloween and are glad it falls on a Saturday this year.

What is the matter with: Arlington, Bexley, Columbus, Dublin, Gahanna, Grove City, Hilliard, New Albany, Pickerington, Reynoldsburg, Whitehall, Worthington and others who choose a Thursday night that isn't even Hallloween to hold their trick-or-treat? Terms like afraid, manipulative, liberal, do-gooder, and I"know better what's best for you" come to mind. If you are moving to Columbus and value your individual rights I think you would be well served to look hard at this list!

I don't think the kids care either way as long as they get to dress up and get their candy.

I thought Columbus decided a couple years ago that it would be on Halloween night no matter what day it fell on? As soon as it is Saturday nite, they change it again.

OK... just read through the posts... this is a silly argument, I agree that I could care less what days it falls on, but I had heard it would always be on the 31st for Columbus, too. Something we could plan for and count on. I travel a lot for work and was happy I wouldn't have to miss Halloween. Thank goodness it came up in a conversation over the weekend... I was able to change my flights and schedule, but have to be in town and miss two days of work.:-/ That's the only reason why I asked why they did it that way this year. Was it b/c someone was worried or others pressured them because of OSU playing?!?! LOL Anyway -- it would have been nice that they didn't have school like Dirk was laughing at .... thanks, Dirk! It's no fun trying to get a kid to chill out after such a fun night and so much candy. Of course -- we can always limit and take it away --- but where's the fun in that?!?!:-) Getting sugared up is what Halloween is all about to kids!! That's OK --- Columbus City schools can deal with all of the kids bringing candy into the schools and getting sugared up there. You know that will happen!

Great Point! Probably related to a Buckeye game for them to change the night. Probably safer because there would be more drunks on the road after a game then after costumes parties.

OK.. Seriously people...this has always made sense. When The 31st falls on a Mon, Tues, Wed, or Thurs Trick or Treat is held that night...Which is ALWAYS a school night!! If it falls on Fri AKA Football Friday Nite, Buckeye Sat, or Sun (Church day) then Trick or Treat gets passed back to Thursday night. It's really not that big of a deal. It's how it is.

Why aren't most of these cities doing trick or treating on Halloween? It is actually on the weekend this year and still they make it days earlier on the 29th. I don't get why cities do this?!

I say we move all of the other holidays so they don't fall on their respective designated days. Festivus still stays the same.

i think all of these city officials or people who make these decisions are stupid and controlling. halloween is halloween and should be celebrated on that day no matter what day it falls on. they are just not happy unless they are making decisions for us and telling us what to do.

Daily Horoscope for December 20

Sagittarius

Once again, the domestic atmosphere isn't exactly peaceful. Someone is still all worked up, and you may have come out in sympathy by now. Try to discuss things with as much objectivity as you can muster, otherwise, with Mars now retro, the conversation will soon disintegrate into a bad-tempered spat or a slanging match in which you try to catch one another out. It's important to clear the air.
