A little girl whose father was slain in Ashland taken out of Illinois

The mom should be under investigation for murder and should have not been allowed to leave the state period! She sounds like the one that was holding the smoking gun!

I wouldn't be putting up with any more excuses from the states attorney. I'd be taking this to court if I was Steven's family.

Family members of those murdered or injured have rights & it sure sounds like this families rights are being violated bigtime here!

O.M.G,talk about bizarre.This man was murdered,the local cop's do nough thing,and let the ex-wife just skip out of town.God her family must have alot of pull in that community.And what I do not understand is,if the local cop's have let this all just slip away,why don't the county or state step in.You would think the states attorney would being screaming.This is just as I said, BIZARRE.There has to be more too this.Or the ball has really been droped.That poor man's family

If the wife of Steve Watkins was in the house when he was murdered and she knows what has happened,she should not be allowed to leave the state. What is DCFS doing? The usual,NOTHING. They do too nothing in too many cases. They need retrained and disciplined if they do not do their job.I do not believe she left the state for employment.Was she working when her husband was murdered? Lets get together and get this case solved. This is sooo unfair for the Watkins family. Ashland officials owe the Watkins family some answers that make sense.

I am disgusted. You know the only reason she left is to hide and keep the Watkins from seeing their granddaughter. I wondered why they hadn't been to church in a few weeks. It's because they were moving her.
The Watkins should have taken her to court and got full custody of the little girl.

This whole thing is absolutely nuts! That precious baby girl has been taken away from all who love her and is in the care of a murderer...or at the very least a conspirator in the murder of her Father.

Can anyone explain to me why this is taking so long to investigate.I am not familiar with this area,or the agency's involved.It seems from what I read it has been swept under the rug,as we use to say.Oh and sorry for the bad spelling in post two.To upset at the time

So if that is true then it definitely was premeditated and I still say it's a conspiracy to commit murder and arrest the whole damn bunch of them. Enough is enough! Any of them that helped by doing such a thing are just as guilty as the one who pulled the trigger!!

So Jennifer Webster-Watkins and Shirley Skinner are now living in FLORIDA. That's where they ran off to. Makes sense. They vaca there every year. The weird part is Shirley's husband Kenny is still in Ashland. I guess they figured if Shirley and Jenny BOTH ran away the police couldn't point the finger at just one of them. As for what's going on with the "investigation" Lord only knows. Nothing probably.

The way this investigation was handled is so unprofessional. Justice will prevail and someone will answer to it one day. And I sure wouldn't want to be the mother that had to live everyday knowing that my family took my baby's father away. And one day she will realize that girl will have questions about her father and that side of the family and what is she going to do then. She may be something in her daughters eyes right now but soon and very soon her daughter will hate her because she will find out the truth and then what is she going to do. I really hope that Steve is standing at the gates of Heaven when Jennifer tries to enter and God says " I never knew you" and look at what you have done and how many lives you have ruined. And then she will burn in hell for what she has done and what she is hiding.

I agree but sadly they will probably just lie to her and say "Your daddy was an evil man and he was trying to harm your grandma and/or mommy. The same BS they will say if this is ever brought to trial.
They might escape punishment on earth but they won't escape eternal punishment.
