If she hadn't been in a wheelchair she might not have learned to speak English, the only one in the family it seems. Why should I feel sorry for someone who wants to live here and yet not assimilate?
I am sickened by what this country has become because of people like this family and people like you who want to tell me just how generous, sypathetic, tolerant, welcoming, and benevolent I HAVE to be.
She needs medical care and help for the rest of her life because of idiocy I had no part in, sell the brother who set her on fire into slavery to pay for it,,, sell the jackass into slavery that shot her to pay for that.
Slavery...OK. Looks like your ignorant a$$ is living in the past. Piss and moan about it all you want, but it's not going to change anything. Move to Idaho on a compound with all your white, gun-loving, deeply-closeted friends if you're so upset about it. WHY CAN'T YOU JUST BE A DECENT HUMAN BEING instead of a racist a$$h0l3? The girl is 16, in a wheelchair and now badly burned. Who cares what language her or her family speaks? Can you even imagine how bad her life is? You disgust me.

JJo you are so STOOOOOOPID! The lesson is that an adult should have been present. Second, you never pour gasoline in to a fire, it trails that liquid.
READ the article, it says adults were present.

Although my heart goes out to this young girl and her terrible injuries.... I must ask: "Why did the adults there allow a child to handle and USE gas on a fire?" What's wrong w/ this situation!? What a terrible thing to happen and know that adults were present and could have prevented it. And 8 min. to get to a scene of an accid? Seems a bit long.

I'm confused about a couple of things. Didn't the Spaniards settle Florida before the English....maybe her family is just waiting for everyone else to assimilate.

Also, where does it say the brother doesn't speak English?

I second the "you disgust me" remark, Castor. From among the many vile comments posted here, this down-on-life loser really does "take the cake"...in a blowout.

Darwin! Hi!
Good point. They'll find some reason to sue.
Maybe Oblammo will have enough common sense to make English our official language. Oh, wait, that would be out of character for a 'community organizer'.

I don't understand why we DON'T have English as our official language, already. It's absurd. I am all for being culturally sensitive, but this is just stupid. Just make it official so we can move on to something else!

Spain sold what little it had of Florida to America in the 1820's.
Mexicans are not Spaniards and it is because corruption, ignorance, and sloth that their country is a 3rd world state. Of course since compassionate, corrupt, slothful liberals are turning the US into a 3rd world country many illegals are heading back home on their own.

It said the brother called 911 first but couldn't speak english well enough.

BTW she is 17 and because of her previous injuries doesn't attend school, she was shot in a gang related shooting and the gunman was aquitted. Fundamental US immigration policy is that those coming here not be a burden, and I am afraid that is not a compassionate policy, but one that built America up to the most powerful prosperous nation on earth.

So I should want my government, my community to help everyone who has a bad life? The resources you keep trying to give away should belong to my children, and their children, and their children. Just because you are too stupid to realize that your legislated "compassion" condemns our future generations to less than they deserve.

and that disgusts me!

Will someone in Pierson give the true story of this family? Are they in need or just working the system?

Well it's been a year now after the accident and the family is still working the system again for money.
Always asking for money or donations.
Just keep watching!!!!
