Dan, And others like him.... I wish you all a Merry Christmas. Let us hope that the end of the year finds peace with each of us, so that the new year can bring an awareness of Parents responsibility to their children and a child's responsibility to their parents (whether it is one or two or more). I think if this thought were a reality, a lot of our moaning and groaning on these sites would consist of the price of milk or how tired we are of our bosses. Wouldn't that be wonderful?

Dan, the problem with this is they are associating the extreme views of this poster with my username which is not anonymous as my name has been used in conjuction with it many times. I take offense when I am said to be associated to Fred Phelps and the KKK!!!! This is ridiculous and wrong. These people, most of which are affiliated with the Women In Black of Meadville, the Veterans for Peace and Erie Peace Initiative claim to be about "peace, love and understanding" but don't have a problem putting the children of a military man in danger by associating him and his family with the KKK and Fred Phelps.
How is that peaceful???
As you know, these groups you cite above believe the "ends justifies the means". Basically, many of them are protesting only that which they know from the biased, media reporting.

As I've written, many, if not most people here, will post comments that they will not assign their real name to. It is very easy to make statements that one will not take personal credit for. That way one can attack people, circumstances, and subjects they allegedly dislike, without having to suffer any repercussions or sanctions for what they allege to believe.

Overall, I really feel that forums such as these offer little if any solution to problems that exist or are perceived to exist. Forums such as this allow "anonymous" and real people an opportunity to vent their frustration(s). Beyond that....these forums more than likely, will never influence an election or a government agency's performance or lack thereof.

What do you or I or others actually accomplish by commenting here ? Not much.

Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year to you !

Thank you Katie for your kind well-wishes. Your son should be VERY thankful for a mother such as you !

You'll probably see me around here, attempting to impart some sense in those who read my comments. However, please know that although I may believe I'm correct in much of what I comment on, I often see things my way. That isn't always the correct way.

So have a Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year. Thank you for being the responsible parent you are....we need more parents (more than ever) like you.

You are so mean!!!! Not everyone can afford to go to a private school. There are still lots of good kids at Central that get straight A's and go on to get there P.H.D later in life. They just get over looked by all the bad people that could care less about school and what they end up doing with their life.

Courtney: You sound like a nice girl. However, one thing you need to learn is that saying something does not make it true. "Lots" of students at Central High School do not earn HS diplomas, much less earn straight A's in academic subjects before going on to college. And even fewer of them end up getting their doctorates in grad school. I'm sure the Erie School District could share the actual statistics on this with you if you ask.

That said, there is nothing wrong with being proud of your school and more importantly your personal accomplishments throughout life. Good luck !

First off,why must of you are hating on central. We are not that bad and just because you see some of the students smoking and late to school doesn't mean thats how the rest of the school is.For your information Central is mostly an academy standard school. Its way better than East,Strong Vincent, and any other school here when you really think about it.Nineth grader are already taking course that you would have to take when you get to college it gets no better than that.I do agree that the parents who really do need to attend p/t conferences is showing a disgrace to the school but not everybody care on their child education and you can't change that.People really do need to stop hating on Central because the more people down us the better we get and that not bad on the students perspective. The Student do not wear baggy pants and big hoodies now adays the wear tight shirts and some what tight pants that doen't hang that low because their realizing that it is not cute.
I graduated from Central in 2000 I have seen the best and worst it has to offer but one thing foreshore with your bad grammar and spelling I can see it has gone down hill since 2000. to all those saying Central is a bad school need to take a look at what goes on in Prep or McDowell they do more drugs get in more fights then Central ever has trust me I know.

I guess I'm way behind the times. I assumed a dress code was not just the color of the uniform but how they wore the clothes. My mistake. Wearing pants below the butt and clothes that are ten sizes to big is ok. If that is what the school district considers a dress code, then so be it.
If you hate living their then maybe you should move because your getting older and the kids stay younger obviously what you thought to be cool in the 60's isn't going to be cool today some of those kids with their pants below their butts are 10 times smarter then you so stop staring out your window and go out and live and leave the kids alone besides you were a kid once.

Centralsupporter & irritated --- your poor spelling and grammar speak volumes about the quality of education you are receiving, and your efforts to excel. If you are an example of the Erie workforce of the future, then I am frightened of what is yet to come.
It's really sad.
No Bystander what actually is sad it that you are bashing some teenagers. You probably have a low life job flipping burgers at the local Mcdonalds, so you are just saying those things to feel better about yourself.

Your sad.

Thank you.

Central Tech is an absolutely amazing school. We have scored higher than Academy, the so called "Golden School", for the past ten years on the SAT and PSSA tests. Read the statistics before you make an assumption. Remember the old saying. "What did assume do? It made an ass out of you and me." There are some bad kids, but they go to FLAGSHIP TRANSITION SCHOOL or the ALTERNATE EDUCATION PROGRAM. That is a completely different school than CT. So those of you who speak bad against Central, coming from a current student, go fuck yourselves.

That is a very well written comment young man, I commend your argument and grammar skills. However, you may want to refrain from using foul language such as you closed with above. It does not help your argument and only sinks you to the lowest common denominator. I would be happy to maintain dialogue over this or any other issue you care to discuss. I know you are doing very well in school and want to get into a top notch college, let me know if you have any questions about the real world. Sincerely, Mike G.
