What is beyond comprehension is how a single mother with limited income (at least that it what is being reported in more recent reports) is allowed to adopt children before all of the financially stable couples who wait years and years for the opportunity to be a parent. Whoever made that decision should also be charged. From the way it looks, she only adopted the children to get more money from the government. And how is it that no one knew that they were not attending school?

This woman was getting $2400 a month from the govt to care for these children. When will we STOP giving handouts? This is what that form of socialism causes -- stupid people with maniacal plots to take free cash.

DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO PEOPLE TO CARE FOR "ADOPTED" CHILDREN!!! Someone should take into account whether they havethe financial means to have children before they adopt (or even have them naturally). Raising children is VERY EXPENSIVE! And parents shoudl be financially prepared for something like that.

When some laszy idiot gets wind of the fact that she doesn't have to be financially prepared to raise shilcren, she'll think, "Hey, I can just pick up a few of them and that government check will paymy rent!"

WELFARE IN ALL FORMS AND FOR ALL REASONS IS 100% WRONG!!! IT MUST BE STOPPED!!!

i think once the adoption is final they don't do home checks unless someone suspects there is a problem in the house, which is not likely considering none of her neighbors in Lusby or Rockville even knew she had kids. She probably moved the kids from DC (where the adoption took place) to the home Rockville in to the home in Rockville, never letting them out of the house and then killed them.

I don't understand this. If you choose to adopt you agree to raise this child as if it were your own and that means supporting the child financially. How is she able to get $2400 a month for kids she chose to adopt. I though they only gave financial stipends to people who were foster parents.

I find it sick that all the most sick and distribing murders/ crime stories take place in the DC Metro area. First the snipper then this. Come on we live near the Nations Capital. We should set examples for the rest of our country!

I would say that hanging is too good for ANYONE who would do such brutal things to children. ANYONE who is convicted of such abuse and/or murder of children should be put in the chair and the voltage should gradually be turned higher and higher until they're deceased. Let them feel some of the pain they inflicted on the poor children. And again - yes, I mean ANYONE. Doesn't matter what race, which gender, what nationality. RE the post about getting payments for adopting children; I wasn't aware of that, myself; I thought it was just for foster parents? I would think if you're adopting a child so that the child is legally yours, you'd have to prove to the adoption agency that you were able to support the child? Maybe I'm mistaken?

what are we doing to protect these children, i think anyone who wants an child should have an back ground check and have there homes checked inside out up side down! it's a shame what she and others like her have done, 2 young lives lost and almost 3.being an mother is an blessing from god. i have 4 little boy's and i love them so very much i could never hurt them or any child. i think she should be beaten and any other non-human for laying unkind hands on an child!!! it's an shame!!!!!

The news conference that was on TV last night stated she passed all the background checks that they must submit and that home visits were made to make sure she was suitable for the adoption. I agree, if you adopt children should there be home visits on a regular basis and school checks to make sure the children were enrolled in school?? Here we go again with cracks in the system in DC. You are so right again about stable homes wanting to adopt but at times I turned down for whatever reason. The news conference also stated she was getting a $2400 a month check. Hell that is MORE then I bring home in a month and I have been working at my job for 20 years! Go figure!

I'm very interested to know at what point did these poor kids drop off the face of the earth? I saw a story last night that said the neighbors in Rockville don't remember ever seeing any kids and I know the neighbors in Calvert County never saw the children. I'm willing to bet she adopted those children knowing full well she had no intention of caring for them. After the adoptions were final she moved to an area where she and the girls were not known and the rest is history.

I'm not a strong supporter of the death penalty, but I don't want MY tax dollars used to feed and shelter this poor excuse for a human.

Another example of DC's failure in their Social Systems. Where was the follow-up from DC Social Services for these poor beautiful children? None! Instead, DC Services send these children to their deaths. Typical DC ignorance running the ship. Makes Me Sick! Those poor kids. Allow adoption to a poor no income single parent? Does that make any sense? Or was this just an example of DC getting rid of an expense and this was a method that this pathetic women could garner DC funds. Probably still collecting monies from DC for those kids she KILLED!

Traditional execution is too tame for that monster. That waste of human flesh should be beaten to death slowly with a shoe, just like she did to those poor little girls.

How heartbreaking. My most fervent wishes and prayers go out to the surviving little girl. I truly admire her strong will to survive. I sincerely hope her life from now on is filled with security, love, and peace.
