The problem didn't have anything to do with the work camp per say. There is an Idaho Supreme Court ruling that the canal companies only need access to one side of the canal to do it's maintance. Robert Reiley was kind enough to say they could use his pasture side of the canal to do the maintance on. They need no more than 10' access to do the maintence. Jerry Dalling told a man down the canal that they only need 8' to get between his building and the canal. Anyway, they proceeded to go 160' feet out in Roberts newly planted pasture. The trees on the canal have "never" caused any problems, they have been controlling the canal from water erosion. A person filled the canal with snow over the winter - the snow made it so when water was turned into the canal it could not flow through, thus causing the canal to flood when it never had before. The canal company has never done anything to stop water erosion. We realize that the canal needs to be maintained but also that the canal company only need access from one side and they do not have a right to destroy other peoples property and go way beyond where they need to access. The work camp and their workers were not the problem- It was the man from the canal company that was giving them direction.
