Hanover Earthquake: 2.4 magnitude earthquake hits Hanover County, V...
CBS 6 has received several reports of a tremors in and around Hanover county. The U.S. Geological Survey web site confirms a 2.4 magnitude earthquake struck seven miles NNW of Ashland.

We heard it more than felt it in Glen Allen. It lasted quite a few seconds and I felt the vibration underfoot. We used to feel / hear blasts from the quarry; this was longer but not as disruptive.

I felt it in Ashland. Lasted about 10-15 seconds. Thought it was a truck in my drive way at first, but I went outside and there was nothing there.

It sounded like a loud double sonic boom which shook the house, with rumbling afterwards that sounded like distant thunder. The ground vibrated for about 20 seconds.(from Scotchtown Rd., near Rt. 54)

felt in around Rt 54 and Scotchtown rd. Sounded like a long rumble of thunder. Than I heard shaking of ground and windows in our house. I was outside working in the yard.

House shook in Montpelier. a big rumble like boom then a second small one. Horses were at barn and ran off frightened.

We were at Ashland Berry Farm and felt and heard it. Everyone was wondering what it was.

Montpelier, Va...felt and heard earthquake. Ground rumbled underneath and our house shook for about 10-15 seconds. Very loud sound like thunder but more of a boom.

We heard a long sonic sounding boom that built up intensity and some small vibrations. More like a tremor. Husband thought it was a quake right away. I had thought at the first noise that our son upstairs was falling. Then as it continued I realized he couldn't be falling for that long! Then I wondered if there had been an explosion of some sort. While we lived in California for a short time years ago, we had felt one like this.

Felt it in Buckingham County. A low and distant rumble and vibration underfoot. It lasted about 3 seconds.

We were at our firm's picnic off Farrington Road in Hanover and we felt and heard it! The California folks with us said it wasn't an earthquake. However, to all us East Coasters - any tremor or higher is an earthquake and we freak out!

We live in Bumpass and at the time it hit there were 8 people in my home and we all heard it and ran outside. It shook the windows and some of us felt it. It was like nothing we have ever experienced.
