How are we as parents supposed to explain to our young children that they still need to trust the law enforcement, when they hear that the Chief of Police is a drug addict? Will it confuse the young children?

If the whole damn police force wasn't so corrupt, maybe we wouldn't have to explain it to the kids. All the academy grads know to come to this little town if they wanna confiscate the beer and drugs and go somewhere and use em up (NOT pour them out like the photo ops show). We need a complete overhaul of not only the police force, but also the sheriff's office.

One of the many reasons we need illegal aliens OUT of Tippah County. I think everyone should organize a protest.

Let he who lives in Glass house's through the 1st stone. Being hooked on prescription drugs doesnt make someone a hardend crimial. If you want to go after someone for that...go after the Doctors that make this happen. The people in this city should have stood behind him and got him the treatment he needed. Not the linch job he got!!!

I am sorry but Bert is a grown man with a lot of responsiblities in this town and he should have asked for help. We trusted him to take drugs off the street not sell them and help them make there way back to the streets. How can we trust of law enforcement with officers like this. I think he should have gotten more time than he did.

First and foremost Bert Conely is not this monster prescription drug addict as some of you put him out to be. I have known this man for most of my life and if you think being a retired marine doesn't take toll on ones body something is wrong. Everyone is guilty of takin a pill that belongs to someone else every now and then. He was not HOOKED on anything. He agreed to go to rehab to maybe lighten his sentence. I don't believe he should have gotten any time for being set up by what was suppose to be his life long friends in order to get them out of trouble that they were already in(awaiting trial).
Anyone who knew Bert personably and what a great job he did as Chief wouldn't come on here and bash him because there is nothing bad you can say about him other than the fact of him being a bit hyper.
Drug addict-he was not, if he was then all of you that has ever popped someone else's script pills-are too.....
