i would like to take this time to ask all ashlanders to start boycotting the paper.Over here in carter county they quit printing people letters to the editor because they was getting some heat from the corrupt county officials.I personal think if we boycott the paper they will change there way over there.I need to get different people at the paper. They don't believe in our right to freedom of speech.Let all band together in carter, greenup, and boyd county.let's our Voice be heard we can get him where it's hurt there purse, money is all people listen to now days.

Boycot the papaer all ya want. Wont work they are running themselves into the ground anyways. Putting it online for free rather than charging? Trust me i worked there i know. Hours got cut more and more as people found out about it on the web. So dont worry about boycotting it.

Newspapers don't usually charge to read the paper online. The New York Times is free online, so I don't think anyone is going to pay to read The Independent online. And I doubt they are going broke from it either. This is just another avenue to charge for advertising. That is how websites are used to make money. I do agree, however, that The Independent has been going down hill for a while. The stories aren't accurate and the prices keep going up.
