Let me get this correct, he took over a former coffee shop in Summitt Plaza and after doing extensive work on the building He is now closed?
Smoker is gone and building is flat? Hmmm thanks for your 2 weeks to make it work for Boyd County

Why don't people who start restaurants keep capital on hand for slow times? I am thinking maybe he is doing stuff at Summer Motion - one would hope to think and maybe he's coming back??? I dunno. Does seem like he put much effort into getting another one started. It seems though Rick's BBQ is like Andy's BBQ. They open and close and re-launch in a new location every year. First it was Westwood, then it was Ironton then Boyd. As for Andy first it was Boyd then Ashland then Flatwoods then Westwood. Perhaps Andy and Rick's BBQ are separated at birth? Or perhaps they are taking advice from the local chinese restaurants and learning how to play the avoid taxes game.

Drove by Ricks BBQ stand in Summitt today and doubt he is returning as the building is leveled
and his outdoor smoker is gone. Wow 2 weeks i guess and give up? Nothing has ever worked at that spot for sure

Rick and family dumped everyhing they had in the building in Ironton! They had a great place but did not serve alcohol. It's hard to have something in Ironton without it. We ordered lunch there for our office quit a bit abd it was great! I was sorry to see them go! As for you bashers, It seems some if you do nothing but sit on your a$$ and bash other people. What have you done that was actually productive and successful that you can sit and take pleasure in other peoples hardships?????

Well the biggest problem is these guys need to just work for someone else and be a cook. They arent business minded. Also Rick has no sauce he uses sweet baby rays which is crap. He needs a signature to be set apart. I will throw in another example REDS that was in Kyova mall. He was very overpriced and his wife probably ran off a lot of business. We need an great BBQ place like Sonnys Bennetts or Corkys. The one in Huntington is a joke Buddys sucks and is nasty.

I appreciate the fact of Ricks faith and understand his conviction with not serving alcohol or being open on Sunday. I also tried to give Red and Rick business to cater but they were outrageous on group pricing. They have to make money but you have to build a repeat business as well. Many good points here and like some said you may know how to cook but not have the smarts to make money. Too bad for the area I wish there were some good places too.

I work there. We are not closed. The building is not down. The owner didn't die. We do great business there. We are in the process of getting a bigger smoker so you will see some remodeling going on in the future. We are doing so well that current smoker isn't large enough to cook as much food as we need. So come on in and enjoy a BBQ. :)

Haven't had the food but a BBQ joint can make a nice chunk of change in the right spot. Starting a restaraunt is expensive and you need the right building in a great location. What about the old Chinese eatery on 23 in Russell? Building has been abandoned for years but it's in a great location.

Hey Location - Cracker Barrel & Red Lobster both have been courting that location of the abandoned Ponderosa/Chinese Restaurant. Let's cross our fingers one comes in.

I agree with the poster who said Buddy's is a joke. I couldn't agree more. The menu there is not extensive and they serve over-priced tasteless bbq and tasteless sides. The only way that place stays open is due to it being a college town and them selling alcohol. They make the money off the alcohol sales and drink specials they run.

We need to get a Dave's Famous BBQ in Ashland. Now that's some good stuff.

As for Reds. I agree. They didn't know what they were doing and his wife did run everyone off.

I am glad to here Rick's is still operating. I tasted his stuff at a Halloween church event in Flatwoods last year and have been a loyal patron since. Absolutely great bbq and he keeps his prices affordable. The guy is really nice too. He knows how to treat a customer.

As for Andy Moore... I just think he's a sloppy and shady character. I agree with the poster earlier who said he opens and closes too much. He needs to pick one spot and stay there.

I agree with "Do What" Miss Brittany is the reason we don't eat Rick's BBQ. Did once and because of her we won't go back! Fat bitch is rude and disgusting.. Not the type of person I want near my food.
