i dont think he should be head coach. he is a excellent definsive cordinator but not the best offnesive one

He is horrible. The boys suck, the County needs to do away w/ their football program. They've not been worth anything in years.

Wrong, they need a real athletic director that actually cares, it's all sports, not just football. It comes from the top and brings the rest down. The boys football boys are great athletes and kids. We need a new athletic director.

There is no doubt that Lee Evans paid his dues as an assistant at both Ashland and Boyd to atleast deserve a shot. I know he was a finalist for the Ashland job after Vic Marsh retired in 1999 before they hired Larry Hall. But yes, I suppose one has to wonder how long of a shot he deserves?

They were awesome back in 2000-2001!! What happened?

What is needed is a better feeder system. Youth programs, middle schools without parent involvement. Parents coaching have ruined baseball, football and basketball. Lee is an excellent coach. We need to give him better players that have been taught basic fundementals.

I played for him before he left ashland and must say he is on top of almost every players list as the best coach we have had. It was very sad to not have him with us when him and Hall had their blow up. He has the respect of everyone in my class and before us. Lifting weights he is there to help and work with us to get better. He worked with everyone and didn't play favorites. Great teacher and excellent coach I think he has earned his head coaching shot. You cant blame the bad players in BC on him.

I played for Coach Evans while he was an assistant at Ashland. Lee is an excellent coach. Boyd Co. could not find a better example to teach/coach there young men. I truly wish Evans would have gotten the Ashland job over Hall in 1999. Ashland has an exellent coaching staff now, but I would be happy to Evans coaching at Ashland. Boyd County's problem is not their coach.

Above statements are true. It has been proven that by the age 14, if kids aren't taught to play a sport at the highest level/with The correct knowledge and technique, etc, then the majority will not be able to compete with peers that have had the training needed for that sport, there are some exceptions, but it does start with youth training. Don't blame him for what the coaches they had in jfl did not teach them. Same is true in basketball, soccer, bc can't compete with other schools, no fault of the coaches, you can't train them once they get to high school, as they are too far behind other schools. Lee is a very good man and example for the boys, we need more like him.
|
||||
|
Forgot to mention, bc youth coaches in all sports only want to teach kids to win, they do not teach them to play, it's all about winning to them, therefore, skills are not taught. That's a major factor in them getting in high school and not being able to compete.

it's lees own fault he doesn't gave the tallent... Ashland kids are running So e of the same plays they will run at the varsity level from the time they are 8 years old.... I know when I wen through I went through 3 different offenses.... Ashland has a great feeder program..... That and bc has taken a tallent hit since the 90's.... I if your a parent and u get mad over that statement u should open your eyes.... I mean it's basket ball too do u actully think that any bc basket ball team could touch any of bc's teams from the early 90's.... Now niether our football basketball teams can beat fairveiw..... What it boils down to is parents from all over the country should yank the ps3 controler out of their hands and take the time to play with them....my brother and myself were both standouts at bc... My brother more than myself... And our parents didt leave it up to some coach to bring us to full potential... They had a bat and or ball in our hands before we could walk.... I'm by no means bashing bc players or even lee.... Things just need to change a little to bring some of that lion pride bacj |

Boyd County Does need a Athletic Director not a old Trainer who will not or does not no what the athletic director job is. Boyd County statistic are not repoted to Khsaa so our kids can be recognized with all the other state programs. Khsaa says it is up to the coaches an the Athletic Director to get the stats reported . Seems like it is someone not doing there job for the Kids. The AD needs to be held accountable. Coach Evans does a great job with the young men he works with at BC.

I agree with most of the posters. The win/ loss stats are a reflection of the entire program, not just players or coaches. Lee is a super coach, but he doesn't have enough quality kids year in and year out to have a great program.
Just like BCHS won the state baseball championship under Jody Hamilton. Was he that good? Yea, but by then he had several years of kids who grew up with his baseball school, etc... When they got to bchs, they knew baseball. With lee, many of his kids are still learning the fundamentals when they get to the high school. |

Yes, Coach Evans is a very good teacher, had him for history at Blazer my sophomore year in 99. I wasnt a football player but I do remember the players in the class telling him they all hoped he would get the head coach position when the interview process was going on. You could tell he had the player respect from all. I know Coach Marsh recommended Evans to be his successor. But what I think happened with that goes back to the Dave Arthur hiring a few years before when Marsh stepped down the first time, and he recommended him at that time. But then again, by 99 Jerry Umberger was retired and Mark Swift was the A.D. |

Yes I agree the AD needs to go he is horrible and way to old to do the job right, we need a yonger person in his position. He has destroyed all the programs and BC inculding the cheerleading program. Bayes has to go
|

I felt sorry for Arthur. Marsh screwed him with bad players for 2 years and comes back with the talent and is praise all over again. |

its time to step down.he is getting out coached every game.it does not take rocket sciencetist to see this.2-9 speaks for itself.

I'm sure Lee would have liked to have seen a winning season also. Best coach that can be had? Of course not, they're all in pros and colleges making serious coin. Saw a couple games this season, looks like he has them doing everything right, it's just not fast enough and hard enough to win. They compete well for 2 quarters, then the halftime drain sets in, too many of the same kids playing o and d. Will they get better? Looks like they have potential to, but will take some serious hard work and focus from the players and the coaches to turn this around. I did hear at work that full contact is a no no at practice, no wonder their backs don't know how to react and stay on their feet after a collision.

u r right.the coaches need to get more serious in the off season.its time to get in the weight room and condition.run up and down the hill and steps u cannot b afraid of kids quiting at least give the kids a chance to compete that want to b there.u know what they need to improve, stronger and quicker.

Evans, no I won't call him a coach, and his band of coach -wanna be's, need to be removed from the Boyd County football system.
Their problem is that he and his buddies only play certain boys, then they play them both ways. Wears those kids out so that by half time, they are exhausted. They have talented boys standing on the sidelines, but won't play them because they don't play suck up to them or their parents have pissed them off at some time or another. The funnest excuse I heard from them was "your parents did't graduate from "The County" so you can forget playing for us! Pennington and Frasure are even bigger jokes!!! If you stand up to Frasure, he benches you and Pennington, what a laughing mess he is, the man can't walk with out waddling, he only plays those who do odd jobs around his house for him. When Dane Damron was the coach, we had a team experiance, now it's who you know, and who your momma blows!!! I've seen players be the best at their position, not miss a practice, be at everything preseason and through the winter,go to every camp for their postion, be ranked in the KY High School Cat Pause, take 2-3 weightlifting classes, but yet can't play because the coaches don't like their attitude. Get these jerks out and maybe Boyd can start having a team experiance again, or keep them and have the same ole crap year after year!!! |
