Is there anything that people don't want Congress to control. They don't need to be involved in everything everyday

I know the answer to the problem, the public needs to quit going to concerts and they will be begging us to return!

I always thought that Ticketmaster should be abolished/banned from selling concert tickets so we can afford to attend our favorite artists concerts.
Besides the ticket prices all the miscellanious (sp) charges are so stupid.
Pretty soon Ticketmaster will be charging us a wipe their butt charge!

Why can't they just sell us the tickets at the concert like they used to do.

It really is sad the price stub hub and ticket exchange charge for the tickets to concerts and sporting events,it keeps true fans from being able to attend.Places like that need to be run out of business give the true fans a real chance and artists that support the high price tickets are not in it for the fans

Take a look at Stubhub. Many of the tickets are only like $50. It just blows my mind that people hate the free market system so much. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that in the United States we would seriously be talking about outlawing the resell of concert tickets again.

They used to be regulated. And it was almost impossible to get good seats. Now that it is a free market system, I get to go to concerts and ball games all the time for below the original face price. For example, I love going to Braves games. I bought tons of tickets this summer on stubhub for $3.00 on average. The original price had been like $50 on those seats.

Just take one moment and think about what you are actually suggesting, before you get all fired up and react. What ever business it is that you are in, do you want it to be regulated? For the product to no longer be allowed to be sold? Or to only be sold at some price that the federal government says it can be sold at?

This is just sad. Wake up America.

Messina can go jump off a tall bridge. He's just a greedy promoter. If the federal govt needs to regulate the secondary ticket market, then they should also regulate the artists and their management teams.

You buy something, you own it. Whats the problem?? If you are stupid enough to pay that much for it then supply vs demand. IE if you want it that bad, then you will pay fair market price for said tickets.

Nothing new here, just move on...

Really? Congress? I think they have their hands full with a few other issues right now.(Besides, they would just take the good tickets anyway--and then who would control them?)

I agree. If I could sell a ticket for more than face value I would do it. Look at the people who pay more for GM vehicles because it has the Cadilac name on it.

Maybe if the TICKET SELLERS were on board with this thought, things would work. LOOK TICKETMASTER, there are many MAD people. YOU SHOULD only sell ten tickets at a time. If some one asks for a thousand, TURN THEM DOWN??? Or ONE ticket for ONE person, JUST LIKE A COUPON FOR any fast food place??

Messina has always been one of the biggest scalpers. i worked for a company (ticket Broker) for 15 years that Messina and his Pace Concert group sold tickets to for almost every show in Texas

You guys need to really clue in. Payola is alive and well and that's how these great seats are gone. They are blocked off by the booking agent in exchange for the record label promotion people to make deals with radio stations to get records played. Now, in the case of Taylor Swift, maybe they bargained her off for Jack Ingram or their sister label and Jimmy Wayne. Rest assured, these tickets are block booked by the agencies to use as a teaser for listeners and ratings. How long has your station been in this business? Every label does it, every booking agency does it and so does everyone working to get airplay. This is not a complicated matter that deserves so much attention. Let it go. Payola is alive and well in some form or another.

Did anyone read about this in a newspaper, or did you find out about it online? Yeah. If you're trying to say that the value in the amex deal is getting newspaper ads, then I hope your time machine can get you back to the present from 1986. The ONLY reason these amex deals exist is to get the artist a check and make amex look cool by offering exclusive access to the best seats to your favorite acts, implying that you need to be an amex guy/gal if you want to go see a concert and not bring binoculars.

Let the idiots part with their cash.$1,000.00 for ANY concert? No.

Plus, Congress will only make it worse--those numbnuts have already screwed our entire economy up.

Free enterprise. Scalpers only buy and resell tickets at ridiculous prices because people are willing to pay ridiculous prices for them!

If you want the scalpers to stop, then simply stop buying tickets from them!

No one is forcing anyone to attend a concert. It is not essential to life that you see Taylor Swift.

Keep Congress out of the issue!

Good for Taylor. I've been saying for some time now that these artists couldn't stop scalping so they crawled into bed with them and now the truth is coming out. I'm sorry to hear that groups like Def Leppard are using this tactic as I'm a big fan of theirs. I think something needs to be done. I can remember when I first saw Def Leppard, during their prime and I paid $16.50 for the ticket and had excellant seats, this past summer it cost me around $150 for a ticket and that was waiting for a ticket drop, otherwise for the same seat I probably would have had to pay $300+. People who use these scalpers and brokers need to wise up. You shouldn't have to take out a loan to go see your favorite artist perform.

They should only allow 4 tickets to one IP address, that would stop most of this scalping.
It is so sad that a real fan can't see their favorite artist because of the rich buying all the tickets up. Not everyone can afford those fancy Amex cards!
I think we all should do as Taylor said and just buy her CD so Taylor gets the money not some jerk of a scalper.
Why does Taylor need all that hundreds of thousands in advertising anyway? Isn't her web site good enough for advertising?

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Pisces

You're lacking in energy and resources today, which will soon slow you down and make you feel as though you're wading through treacle. The only way to cope is to have as many breaks as possible, and not to set yourself impossible goals that you could never hope to meet. You're also very susceptible to the criticisms or put-downs of others, but do your best to ignore them.
