what took so long

Considering the massive compensation packages the executives all must have in order to remain competetitive I am shocked these types of layoffs did not happen sooner. Johnson should be commended for waiting so long to be as greedy as everyone else. Their executives must be considered of heroic stature for waiting this long to upgrade their country club memberships.

Maybe it is because the name 'Johnson' is a no-no since JnJ's foundation, the RWJF, is behind the smoking bans with their grants to 'buy' bans as they line their own pockets selling the no-smoke products. The big American Scam is about to bust.

And how many millions ($22) did the legislature just give to UCONN health center to bail them out? And for the third(?) tme since 2000. But those a precious state jobs with unions, pensions and health benefits for life. Now that is fair!!!

The Courant needs to dig a little deeper. There's a lot more going on than the whitewashed version being provided. Where's the accountability? Once again the average worker is made to pay for the mistakes made by upper management.

There is ALOT more going on here than is being portrayed in this candy-coated story. What is going on? Reporters, PLEASE investigate this further!!!!

This doesn't happen overnight or in one year. There is so much going on here that this article indicates. If they can't pay their vendors how are they paying for this management group's services? Let's go Courant, peel away the layers. Eventually the truth will come out.

With today's economy all small hospitals are struggling. Look at the reimbursement rates with Medicare and Medicaid did you know that if an inpatient hospital bill is $20,000.00 and the patient has Medicaid the reimbursement from Medicaid is approx 2 thousand dollars! Not even enough to cover "COST"!! Maybe those layers need to be peeled away. Johnson Memorial Hospital has always been known for their EXCELLENT Service and this service will be there for the community in the years to come. I will personally be there waiting for that moment:0) Signed by an Employee who believes in JMH!!

Don't bet the farm Confidence. What "moment" are you waiting for? It's not just the reimbursement rates that have put JMH in the predicament they are in although I am sure they would love you to believe that is the sole reason. It's always been known as an old buddy network. Millions missing from the pension fund? Wonder where OR WHO that money went to?

Johnson Memorial was a very top heavy organization who believed that hiring numerous consultants and upper managers would solve their financial problems.... however these ventures cost money! They also implemented millions of dollars into computer and phone technology, too bad they did not realize that this cost money also. Johnson is known to constantly expand and build, again more money. How many people have gone to JMH to be transferred to another hospital. Yes the ER is BIG and beautiful, but again this is a small town hospital, for serious health problems we tend to go to Hartford. Is JMH's financial problems really a shock to anyone?? It seems it was all in good time, before it caught up to everyone.

I have been a proud employee of JMH for many years. I thought that I would retire from there (with a pension was my 1st delusion). It is so sad to see what has happened to our community hospital. I have cared for different generations of so many families in the area. I am praying that I will be able to continue to do that at JMH.

It's very sad what is happening there. My brothers and sisters were born in JMH when it was at its original location. There has to be some accountability for all these problems. Who is their auditor? Their records must have been audited. Who approved all these expenses when no money was coming in? Why isn't anyone asking these questions?

NOW THAT THE PRESIDENTS DEAD,HE WONT BE ACCOUNTABLE. WHERE ARE THE STATE ATTORNIES INVESTIGATING THE ILLEGAL ACTIVITY THAT HAS OCCURRED AND REPORTING TO THE PUBLIC WHAT TRUELY IS HAPPENED TO THIS "NOT FOR PROFIT" ENTITY. RATHER THAN SOME SUGAR COATED PRESS REPORT BY THE INTERIM ADMINISTRATION THAT THE BOARD HAS PUT IN PLACE. AS ONE OF MANY PEOPLE THAT HAS MADE CONTRIBUTIONS OVER THE YEARS AND ALWAYS WONDERING IF IT REALLY WENT TO PT CARE RATHER THAN SOMEONES SUMMER HOME ONE THE CAPE .I THINK THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT HAS AN OBLIGATION TO FIND OUT THE TRUTH AND TELL US AND IF THERE IS WRONG DOING AND THEN THOSE PEOPLE NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.
