I can't believe this article. Waste of space.

So barrett, what is your point? Are you working to bring prices down in NA, or you are just announcing we should not get gas in williamstown and north adams or you are just ranting towards the government.

Other than ranting for the current situation, WHAT ARE YOU REALLY DOING?
Gosh, if you are going to speak publicly say something interesting.

What are you doing to bring prices down in North Adams, didn't you boasted a couple of months ago that you were going after the gas stations?
We have not seen results yet.

blah, blah, blah

Mayor Bluster can do little except live up to his name.

Wholesale price of petrol is currently at about $1.20 and more or less follows the price of crude, which will hover at ~$50± through the winter.

Word on the street is that gasoline prices will get to a low of about $1.50 before year's end and hover there until perhaps midsummer after which, buckle up and hold on for the rocket ride up.

So if you're wanting to go to Grandma's for the holidays, enjoy it while you can.

I just don't understand why Barrett doesn't follow through and keep the pressure on these stations. In the past he has flexed his muscle and the price comes down, but then the stations wait a few weeks and jack it right back up while he sits on the sidelines doing nothing. There needs to be a collective effort by not only Barrett but all leaders across the state to clamp down on these gas stations. Even in Adams where you can get gas for $1.95 a gallon is more than over in Greenfield and Northampton where you can get it for the $1.80 range.

Who besides Barrett has at least tried to fight for lower prices? Follow through,he has been fighting for almost two years for regulations to bring prices down. Successful or not at least he tried while others did nothing.

Speaking to Kerry on a public event to call for an investigation? Is that effective action?

Others who? please specify.

i didn't know there was more than one, my bad.

how could prices go down if opec cut-back production and didn't lower prices? are you saying the american oil companies(supposedly all chummy with bush)started dropping prices only after "their buddy" and mccain lost?circumstances point toward someone(s)lowering prices after gearing them up in the last year along with the election turmoil. i say opec has a sneaky finger in this - you wait and see.

Are you kidding.

The mayor cannot control fuel prices.

The mayor has been calling them out?

He needs to do some more calling then.

The cheapest fuel in the country is in Kansas City at $1.37.

The cheapest fuel in Massachusetts is in Canton at $1.69.

Pittsfield has some of the highest prices in Massachusetts.

Let me give the little guy some advice.

Take care of the things you can control, like property taxes. Stop raising them.

Speak to Mr. Bosley on lowering our electricity,(we are the third highest in the country).

Give all of our small business owners a tax break.

When you can do these things, maybe then I'll believe you are capable of lowering gas prices.

Check the "Indicators" sidebar for current crude price -- that's where it will hover until next year. Got that from the horse's mouth. After that, it will surpass previous highs.

Remember that the bottleneck for gasoline, etc., is the refinery capacity, which is decreasing due to downtime and reduced operating capacities due to aging facilities.

You should also know that the current price is a contrived one meant to bankrupt the Arabs and other producers and destroy their national economies. In the process it is also going to destroy America's economy and totally destroy the dollar. Bush has already set us up to be part of the European Union, destroying our nation's sovereignty.
