Finds Democrats' 'progress' to be anything but that

The price of gasoline is up by about $1.50 per gallon and food prices are taking off like a rocket, spurred on by the insistence on ethanol-blended fuels.

Hey the Repubs have been in charge the last eight years and have been in control of Congress up to the last election. They had ample time being the majority party in control to "fix" things. They fixed it all right. Tax cuts for the rich, new government programs that they refused to fund, a war based upon lies that they continued to want to fund again without paying for it, pork barrel spending and now a recession, increased gas prices.......Our country is in a mess! Go ahead vote McBush and put the Repubs back in office to finish their work..........

I hear ya Anonymous. Easy to blame a Democratic Congress as they're voted in office on the tail end of W's worthless two terms. There's lots of work to be done.
Maybe the writer would care to comment on the progress W was making in terms of energy, immigration, the economey, just what HAS he done besides go to war and put us in the poor house?
Please, tell me.

The Republicans were in charge up until 2006 in Congress.

Since then, they have broken the record for number of filibusters in a single session, and we're not done yet. Republicans in Congress and the White House are deliberately stopping any Democratic legislation that might aid the troubles you talk about in your letter.

Ideological conservatism has been running the show since 2001 on Capitol Hill and the Congress since 1994.

Short memory?

You could use the same argument now as you could back in 2000. It doesn't seem to matter which bunch is in charge the other side blocks them. Don't tell me that the democrats didn't use the same tactics when the republicans were in control of congress.

Amen George! You are right on target. We constantly hear about how low President Bush's approval rating is. Very rarely does the media ever tell us that the approval rating for the democratic Congress is much lower - in fact, I believe it is the lowest in the history of the country.

Of course, they did, Bruce. But many forget what happened when we had a liberal Dem in the WH (Carter) who enjoyed a Democrat-controlled congress. It was a nightmare and the folks threw them all out after four years. Look for a repeat in 2012. Seems they have to learn the downside of socialism every generation or so.

The stalemate, rise in costs, lack of health care, education, economy, et al, is because we sent the president a very inept and out of touch congress.
It is in our hands that we get this country moving and soon by sending who ever is elected as the president a congress with vision and willing to make the American system work,

...uh, Susan...the House of Representatives remained under the control of the Democrats...remember Tip O'Neill?(Speaker of the House)...I won't presume you were being disingenuous...maybe you are too young to remember???...the House stayed under Democratic control until 1994...just thought you'd like to know...

Carter got the results of the failed criminal Nixon's administration and the failed Ford administration along with the OPEC action that caused gas lines. The Congress is evenly divided with 49 Repug senators, plus that lowlife LIEberman, the 50th repug, and 49 Democrats with one independent! Not much they can do but just wait! The repugs are going to lose over 70 seats in the House and maybe a dozen senators, then you can blame the Democrats, after 4 years, if things haven't turned around. In the meantime, get ready for $5 per gallon gas by election day, maybe more if numbnuts "W" goes ahead with his planned attack on Iran, waiting on Gen. DelayUS to take command of CentCom since Fallon was forced out. He had stated that there would be no attack on Iran as long as he was in charge. The WH bypassed Fallon and put in a direct line to DelayUS, usurping his command authority. What does that say about the opportunist, untrustworthey DelayUS? Gas could reach $10 per gallon or more if numbnuts and DelayUS attack Iran, maybe WWIII will be their legacies? Iraq will look like a walk in the park to what will transpire and there will be chaos in the US when people start starving and stealing! There will be shortages of everything and Americans can't deal with that, had it too soft, too long! What will they do when McD's and Wal Mart closes and there is no gas?

Amazing display of reality-challenged nonsense. Nearly 8 years of incompetence, dishonesty, malfeasance and probably criminality under Bush and a duplicitous, Republicon dominated Congress (the Rubber Stamp Congress) and, in the spirit of George Orwell, the LTE writer and one or two known wingnuts bray the usual..."liberals, PC, Socialists, blah blah blah."

Pathetic.

MLH, yes you are right the House remained in Dem control but a considerable number of those Dems (mostly southern) were conservatives thus the libs didn't have much chance of furthering their socialist agenda. That is not the case now. Indeed even many spineless GOPers are libs/moderates or just plain unprinicpled. I say go for it Dems. Do your left-wing thing. I can wait for the fallout.

Yes they have a low rating but much higher than the
Repuks. Don't believe me look at the 3 special house elections for quitting Repukes. You lost them all all of them all of the all of them, maybe like Activon if I say enough you will get the point that most Americans know who it to blame, Not the dems but you Bushies.

Look at the damage the liberals have caused by not doing anything they said the would if elected. They said they would lower gas prices. It went up two bucks and some change a gallon. They take congress and give us a recession. Iraq war is still going on. They said they would end it (which I really can't see those limp wristed pu ssys ending it). Two years later everything we need has increased in price after the Democrats took congress. So I guess they did do something.
Tell us how this can be done when everything the Dems propose is either filabustered of vetoed by George the spinless.

President Bush screwed up alot of things.

It is just like a Democrat to refuse to acknowledge any failure on the part of Democrat controled Congress, or Democrat Presidents.

There you go again Dog, always talking out the bottom end! Always trying to stir up things up with anything but the truth. You start your post with telling us how bad it has been since Nixon and end the post by telling us how we have grown too soft for too long!
Not until all concerned Americans crowd together on the same page and quit playing the blame game and pressure any and all goverment officials to do whats best for the vast majority of Americans will anything ever be accomplished. I voted for Nixon and Carter! Hind sights that I regret! If you have any sensible solutions for our present problems I am willing to listen as would most logical concerned people otherwise you are viewed as a joke.
