Slain trooper's wife talks about son

Michaela has shown the world what kind of woman she is. She is a strong woman. She is poised. She is articulate. A woman who has only asked for prayers for her son. Michaela's only focus is that of her son. Michaela has the support of her family, of Shawn's family, of her friends, but I'm sure all she wants right now is Shawn and he isn't here to be able to comfort her or hold her. Yet she carries on as I know his love for her is carrying her. But she did a wonderful job in describing the kind of man Shawn was. The two of them matched perfectly. My nephew was a shining example of how all of us should live life. He was indeed a hero, not only by the way he died, but by how he lived his life!

Michaela, as I've said, God is an AWESOME God and He does answer our prayers. There is no hurt that God can't heal, no pain that He can't ease. He gives the strength to fight, the strength to forgive, and the strength to go on. He promised that He’d never leave you and that He’d not put more on you than you could bear. You have to hold tight to both those promises.

As you sit and hold Tye close, in the quietness listen and you'll hear Shawn, he knows you need him and he is right there with you. And if Shawn needs Tye more, you know he will be awaiting him with open arms and the biggest brightest smile he has ever smiled.

Michaela, whatever decisions you make, I have no doubt you will be doing what is best for Tye. Hold to God's hand tightly.

Me and Jalen love you and Tye. We are here for you, all you ever have to do is call on us and consider it done.

I am in awe and so inspired by your strength. You are doing a beautiful job of demonstrating how amazing God's love is and that it is carrying you through this trying time in your life. Your strength is such a whitness to everyone! They lived and she still does in Cherokee the EBCI homes they pay maybe $20 bucks a month. And for the Indian child they call Tye. Yes the bills will be way up but she will never have to pay one of them. EBCI will pay like they pay for every other indian no matter what hospital we go to. She will not pay one dime for it. I am sorry for her loss yes he should be with her and Tye. But all she is doing now is tell lies to get people to feel sorry for her and give more money. And she made it clear all she needs is prayers. Also baby Tye once born Indian starts the money he will get once he turns 18. If your not from the rez you may not know we get a check. It goes up every year with the per cap from the Casino. I say he will get way over 100 grand by that time. So feel bad for her loss but not for hospital bills and rent. Where is my back payment for the funeral for my husband? They did not do all this for me my husband was murderd to. People should also give money for her she is hurting way more than Michaela . She does not have free health care for her child. Free college house payment for $20 bucks a month and no check when her child turns 18 for over hundred grand. Feel sorry for her she has more on her than poor Michaela has on her. G533 Trooper Cogdill was killed when his patrol car was struck by a tractor trailer on I-40, near NC 209, in Haywood County. The driver of the truck was found to have been under the influence of narcotics at the time of the incident. Additionally, his truck was determined to have defective brakes. He was charged with murder in connection with Trooper Cogdill's death, but found guilty of the lesser charge of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. He was sentenced to only 45 days in jail with credit for time served. So from that I say Wong will plea guilty and get life. Yes I know they are seeking death. But you know like I do he will never get that life is all. And your tax dollars not mine I am Indian I do not pay state taxes. Will keep Wong up for 30 to 40 years. All my prayers are with you Heidi. Sorry they never coverd your husband like they have Shawn. And I also remember you helped get the move over law passed. The only move over Michaela will be doing is another drink at the Rusty Lizard. A place I have seen her and Shawn more than once.

You are pathetic! Do you have nothing better to do. Anytime someone dies protecting us, it is a big loose to the community/state. Who cares if shawn and her went for some drinks, obviously you were there doing the same thing! I work @ the hospital and she hasn't asked any money of anybody! and yes G540 went back to work you kinda have to when you have no more time to take off. He was only woth the SHP for 2 years. You get 12 days a year sick and about 10 days of vacation. You just come off sounding resentful and spiteful for all your supposed facts. So what if her house payment is $20. Does it make any difference? As for her medical bills, you obviously have not used the Cherokee hospital lately. They are now a business and are nolonger government run. The staff has improved but there is payment expected.

I think that you are correct with what you have stated. I just wanted to let you know that we can
have issues where we may disagree, but when it truly
matters, we are all human beings, and should care
deeply about each other. Thank you for your comments,

I agree, Gayle, that a true Cherokee Indian would have more pride than to write such a post. Yes, Tye
is a Cherokee Indian...and our prayers are that Tye

I'm sure Heidi Cogdill was generously compensated by the federal gov't for the loss of her husband killed in the line of duty on a Federal Hwy, the same as Trp Blanton's widow.$ 1 mil +
