marriage is based on a three-legged stool: it involves two people of opposite sex who are unrelated. If one of those is to be summarily dismissed, do you really not believe that someone will legally challenge the other two? Seriously, if it's okay for two men or two women to be married, why is not okay for three people to join themselves.

Marriage is what it is, regardless of how much folks want to change the definition. Every state asked the question has answered that it wants to preserve the traditional definition. This is not a civil rights issue, so spare me that argument. Marriage is not a civil right.
