I think Shuler did the right thing by not voting for the bill, it will be you. me, my grand childeren, and great grandchildren who will pay for this debt. Just hope the next four years of this administration will not be like the lst month.

He is with the program. I thank God he has enough sense about him to know what will work and what won't.I am proud that he has the backbone to say NO to something that is going to load our children and grandchildren down to where they can't afford to buy homes. He sure beats Charles Taylor . He's young , pays attention to what is going on and votes accordingly.More will wish others had voted no when this is over with and you see the bill(that the taxpayers- you and I)have to pay.Do you really think we need to pay more taxes here in NC? Try to think of just 1 item that you don't pay taxes on. Just 1.

I voted for Obama and I happily admit that Shuler's right and Obama's wrong.

Before that Stimulus vote, recall that between March and Nov 2008, the federal government picked up the $8 TRILLION tab in loans, bailouts, obligations and guarantees, for the financial industry, depositors, AIG, FNMA, FDMC.

We averaged $1 Trillion/month in new obligations for 8 mos under the GOP. Bush/Paulson have handed that ugly baton to Obama/Geithner who are simply picking up the pace in this race of madness to avoid taking our harsh medicine.

Do you really think this all end with "just" higher taxes for ur kids/grandkids?
At least this guys spoke up LOUDLY!

I think Rep. Shuler made a huge mistake in his career by not voting YES on the stimulus bill. The bill may not have been to his liking in terms of the funding awarded for infrastructure, but his constituents need that money. I think Rep. Shuler will be better off listening to the problems of his constituents (jobless, homeless, houseless, failing businesses, no credit, no bank loans, etc.) and then casting his vote, rather than making personal decisions on his own. After all, that's why we sent him to Congress, to represent the needs of his constituents in WNC.

Those against the stimulus bill don't seem to understand how bad the economy is and how bad it will get if we don't get it turned around quickly. At this point the national debt is 11 trillion dollars and growing rapidly. It is going to grow stimulus bill or not. Without a stimulus, tax receipts will shrink due to the contracting economy and costs of social programs will increase due to more unemployed and homeless. With a stimulus the economy will turn around and tax receipts will increase. This will allow us to pay the debt off slowly. Does Shuler understand more about the economy than the expert team pulled together by Obama? He should have learned something about being being part of a team by now. He should get behind the efforts of this administration but the fact that McCain carried our district has him on the wrong side.

I heard yesterday the Regressive radio blabber Ed Shultz on 880 AM say, "Analysis leads to paralysis" as if thinking about the Porkulus Bill would lead to someone to not vote for it. As if to say that a desire to understand and do the right thing would lead a person to know that the bill is bad. Schultz said that we shouldn't think about it too much, but just support Obama. The economy is too bad and too important, he said, to not follow our leader. Sounds stupid and dangerous.

Shuler made the right vote.

He saw the many flaws in this bill and it is a shame others in the Congress did not do likewise.

The bulk of this bill only helps big money, just as has legislation through the past 8 years.

Thank you Mr. Congressman!

The dems have taken a major problem that was left to them and are making it much much worse. The dems saw that in the time of "financial crisis" was an opportunity to load down a stimulus bill and turn it into a debt borrowing massive pet project spending bill. Mr. Shuler was right to vote against this bill.

I am finally proud to have Shuler represent me!! I also voted for Obama, but I, like most Americans, do not support the spendulus bill. The jobs that will be created for road building type projects will be great for the "blue" collar worker but what about the rest of the Americans that are losing jobs? There is no talk of helping them. If you are not involved in manufacturing or construction then you are out of luck.

Now all you folks that are against the stimulus package, when it's your turn to get a piece of the pie, you be sure and say no thank, but I'll pass.

So basically, you're saying that we do not need a congress! Cut their funds and send them home. Let the President of the US make all the decisions! Sounds like a dictatorship to me. As for me, I prefer the democracy we have with checks and balances of Congress, Executive and Judicial branch. But I certainly don't want my congressman "blindly" following any president. I like for them to be able to think for themselves.

I did not vote for Heath Shuler in the last election but I will in the next one. Thank you for representing the people in your district.

My idea for a stimulus package is much more simple and would work better and faster. Divide all those billions equally among all the tax paying citizens of the US. If we are going to go into debt it may as well benefit the people. I know I personally would make some major purchases and I'll bet most other folks would do the same. The economy would bounce back in a couple of days.

Others may think you are in fairy land as the dreamy Moon joins fanciful Neptune in your twelfth house of secrets. Go ahead and let your imagination run wild, but don't allow unfounded fears to paralyse you. This is a good day for dreaming about the future and visualizing where you want to be in the coming days.
