The students were caught in chaos at Perspectives Charter Schools Calumet Campus. Police arrested 25 students ranging in age from 11 to 15 after a food fight broke out in the cafeteria Thursday.

"The next thing you know I saw a tray fly up in the air, and then I saw an orange fly," student Jordan Grevious said.'Then, I heard the words 'food fight.'"

The incident injured about three students. Student Porche Carter says she tried to help one of them but was arrested and handcuffed.

"That felt like embarrassing," she said.

Some students say a staff member belittled them, calling them "animals," then police hauled them off. They stayed at the 6th District Chicago police station for hours before parents say they were notified.

"He's been sitting here from 12 until 5," parent Keith Holmes said. "They wouldn't let him call -- obvious they wouldn't."

"I'm angry. Yes, I'm very angry … because it's already hard enough for a black brother because we're black. Now we've got a record," said Andra Reed, the brother of one of the students.

They fear some of the kids will have a tough time getting a job or applying for college until their misdemeanor reckless-conduct charge disappears from their records. They'll appear in court Nov. 30.

"These kids are going to have records for things that they potentially did not even do," parent Monique Greene complained. "Twenty-seven children up here for a food fight."

Ridiculous. I feel sorry for kids now a days. When a food fight is a criminal offense....sad.

Me and 2 of my friends started a food fight in the early part of my senior year...
All we got was some detention, and we had to eat our lunches in the principal's office... a few egg sandwiches, and some mustard sardines and crackers later, we were dismissed and allowed back into the cafeteria
Sad what they are teaching our children about becoming robots with no emotions or reactions. I'm coming to fear the LE more than the criminal. I can arm myself against potential danger from a stranger. I have no protection from the out of control law enforcers...

it goes further beyond just that...
at least Maine Voters stopped gay marriage being legal in Maine last week, the gay population up there was pursueing and damn near got it into law that 8-10 years old's were to be taught about the gay lifestyle in grade school... now that's pretty f-ed up...
teaching an 8-10 year old about heterosexual sex is f-ed up at that age...
the world is becoming more evil every day...
Yes it is. Children do not need to know about any sex at that age. The homosexual community may feel a backlash if they keep on trying to get to our children.

Grab your ankles dumbass, it was your boy Transplanted that posted all the stuff, just for YOUR glory. I love it when a plan falls together ! Larry gonna tear your ass apart in court. 12/8/09 is just a plea date. 12/10/09 is a dismissal date. There will not be a plea entered on 12/8 because it has already been dismissed. Hope you got this all wrote down because it is going to cost you if Larry goes Civil. You are the one that needs to RUN !

this has all been documented and sent to the DA's Office, you joke of an attorney !

As a committed heterosexual, I must strongly disagree. I remeber, even in third grade there were boys and girls that were "different." Not bad or good, just "different." We all knew it and didn't judge or shun these kids, we just accepted it. It wasn't until several years later that I realized that these kids-most of whom were my friends, were gay. Me and most of the other kids didn't condemn them or call them the names that we all know, we just accepted it. It was cool, for the most part with all of us.
The gay lifestyle is not a "choice." It's not "learned."
It's just who you are. Why is that such a problem?

I might agree up to a point but I also know lots of straights who have 'tried' homosexuality when pulled into it by others.Mostly females dabbling in lesbianism. It has become the 'hip' thing to do with young people now. I do agree that there are many who are born with extremely messed up sexual genders and preferences.

My issue is having these sexual issues discussed with elementary children. That should be left to the parents.

Just out of curiousity, about how old are you? I ask, because I am older than 50 and cannot for the life of me remember 3rd grade boys and/or girls that were "different" in the way you state. As a matter of fact, it actually was not until our recent 30th year reunion that we found out of the less than handful of ones that were, "different", as you say.

50 some.
I didn't know then how these people were different, I and my classmates just knew they were. We accepted that.
They did not choose to be what they were, they just Were what they were.

BZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt. How to lose a prosecution. By not letting a kid contact his parents.
