as predicted the liberal pc bs pos are trying to explain away the election losses. using the state controlled media comments which are in line with the approved spin put out by the communist socialist obama adm. tarheelborn, you should be ashamed of yourself. taking abc news comments as being fair and balanced, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Are you that thick skulled? He IS a troll. It's not a comeback, it's calling out a tool for posting under B.S. handles. At least be accountable for the crap you say with your own "registered" screen name. But fk, look who I'm talking to. nm

And that tick, tick sound in your head ain't a clock, nerd. It's the sound of your brain cells dying off.

The only poll that matters will be taken in November of 2010. Looks like someone better figure out a real solution to creating real jobs that create real wealth, this is not accomplished by taking tax dollars to create make temporary make work jobs.

Then how is it accomplished? You seem to be very active in complaining about this administration on what they are not doing or how they are doing it. What is your suggestion then?

How about cutting business taxes , cutting income taxes, cut government spending, fewer regulations, start with ending the prohibition on interstate commerce by health insurance providers, letting companies that cannot produce a viable product that people are willing to buy fail. That is just a short list. I am sure you don't like any of those options because it takes control of ones life out of the hands of the state and returns it to the individual.

Excellent post, and I agree %100. Government inefficiency and waste are, I believe, THE biggest burdens on our economy and our financial lives. The insane GDP-limiting business and income taxes we pay are simply not necessary with a smaller government.

Unfortunately, this simple fact is wasted on most conservatives, who say that's what they want but then nationalistically adhere to unlimited military spending.

Oh wow, cut taxes, cut taxes, cut taxes...that'll solve everything..But the recommendation that made me spit my coffee out was your suggestion to have "fewer" regulations. Did you miss everything that happened on Wall Street last year? And you want LESS regulation? LOL!

The economy is shot, but Obama is not helping it by tying people's hands behind their backs.

Obama's answer, tax the wealthy and "spread the wealth around". Who do you think owns the businesses that provide the jobs that in themselves "spread the wealth around"?

I give you a hint. It aint the lower income folks or free-loaders looking for handouts from "Obama's secret stash".

And another thing, what do you think the wealthy/business owners are going to do as a result of higher taxes and operating costs to survive? You guessed it, cut payroll and jobs. It is common sense.

If you were to take all the wealth of the world and spread it evenly, it would eventually find its way right back where it came from.

If your goal is destruction of the US economy and stealing from those who have wealth to give to blacks who never worked for it you don't care about the economy except to the extent you want it to get worse.

I'd settle for not stealing from those who produce and redistribute it to those who CHOOSE not to produce regardless of race , creed, or color. If you demand I support you and your children I get a say in how you raise that chiold and even if you are ever allowed to have another one that you are allowed to keep. I don't care what color you are, if you refuse to work if you are able you get ZERO.

WASHINGTON, Jan. 5 (UPI)-- Despite the lousy economy, high unemployment and plummeting housing prices, U.S. congressional members get a $4,700 pay raise this week.

The 2.8 percent raise of $4,700 a year will increase most salaries to $174,000 a year, the McClatchy newspaper group reported Monday.

One critic told the service Congress doesn't deserve the pay hike.

"The general public can't help but think that lawmakers are patting themselves on the back and padding their wallets for presiding over the worst fiscal-policy blunders in recent history," said Pete Sepp, National Taxpayers Union vice president for policy and communications.

Ellis said a delay in a Congress's 2009 pay raise until the recession ends or the jobless rate fell would be wise. It would demonstrate that public officials also sacrifice during times of economic difficulty, he said.

Since the long-ago days when Jimmy Carter was President, regulation has been a dirty word in Washington. Politicians of both parties vied to see how much of the economy they could free from the oppressive yoke of government control. The deregulation movement started when Carter signed the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978. Later, as it spread from energy to trucking to telecommunications to financial services, the rallying cry was the same: Less regulation, more growth.
