Welcome everyone to the dirtiest city in the South East.

Oh right, the largest street festival in the south east.

Welcome everyone to the city of diversity
Come see our motto in action "anything goes"
Be astounded at the drunks weaving their way down main street, peeing in public. Bring the kids for this spellbinding experience! Diversity is thriving in Asheville, especially this weekend. See men dressed as women, see men acting like women, watch as men stroll hand in hand shamelessly thru our streets. What a blast! Could it get any better than this! Lennie Sitnik is sooo proud of Asheville now.

Not so, the city has had crews out for two weeks cleaning the poop off the sidewalks and trying to relocate the bums. They have sprayed lilic water on the maggot infested trust fund hippies who take a bath every three months whether they need it or not, Arested most of the ugly aids infected hookers, tried to get the urine smell scrubbed from the courthouse and city hall. Tried to figure out a way to fumeigate the homos (without hurting their feelings of course). How could anyone say Asheville is a dirty city ?????

I have too many good newspapers to read on line, too many good books to read, too many CDs to play. I just won't be able to fit Bele Chere into my schedule this year.

Went to Salisbury once for a AAU basketball tournament - my child was 12 at the time, we had a Friday night game scheduled at 10pm at the high school. When we pulled up I was speechless, hookers were out walking the street right in front of the high school. No definitely not the first time I had seen hookers, but the first time I know of a city that allowed it to happen at a high school.

Salisbury is probably one of the most "nothing" cities in our state. Its a city with no personality, no charm, and the ratio of drop outs to graduates is 3 to 1. Pretty funny that someone from Salisbury would have the balls to say anything derogatory about Asheville, especially refering to it as "what a mess". Kind of like the pot calling the kettle black. Slither back into your incest filled trailer there ol' buddy.

To be fair to this farce they call a festival. I asked my wife, who is more of a centerist, if she wanted to go and take our Daughter to Bele Chere.

She said with the heat, bad overpriced food, highway robbery on the drinks, and the unpredictable nature of the festival goers, she would rather not. She felt that APD would look the othr way while people did inappropriate pda, and as resposible parents we had to protect our child from being exposed to things she is not ready to process.

Before you liberals say I am being closed minded and discriminatory. 3 years ago my wife and I went while my mother kept our daughter. During our stroll through Bele Chere she and I witnessed numerous couples (gay and straight) making out with fondeling. We saw (on a side street what we originally thought was rape) 2 men taking turns banging a girl, who was having a hell of a time, up against a wall. To top that, right in the middle of the festivities my wife saw and pointed out a gentleman performing fellacio on another man.

You tell me, are we to sensitive? Should I expose my six year old to this? Personally I don't have a problem with anything any of those people were doing. I would just wish they would have respect for others and do it in a more appropriate place.

Yona, what a dissapointment, you are nothing but a bald faced liar. We can endure your flapping jaws and nonsensical rants about liberals and other blown out of proportion oddities but its a sad reflection on your integrity to make up this shite just for the sake of posting another negative post. Im not a liberal, I am a republican to the core and I have attended 27 of the 30 Bele Cheres. Not once have we seen anything as rediculous as gays having sex in public or gang bangs. So Bele Chere is run by liberals? Good god man you will say anything for a response. You sir are an imbecile and the truth is not in you!

All the things that people are stating that happens at Bele Chere, I haven't really seen. I do see same sex couples walking, holding hands, but big deal that doesn't bother me. Does all these things take place after it becomes dark? I do attend Bele Chere, walking from one end to the other and back and I'm usually very observant and don't miss a lot and what I do, one of my sons usually picks up on. I'm sure some things do happen, but can it be that people just hate Bele Chere so much that they will say anything in hopes of getting it stopped? I don't know, that is why I'm asking?????

I'm not going to argue what I saw compaired to what you haven't seen. Maybe we are simply more observant than you.

Besides my point was that there are things going on there that are inappropriate for young children. If other parents wish to possible subject their children to images that will cause issues for the child down the line, that is their choice. Oddly enough every parent from my daughters class is staying away from Bele Chere. Seems to me like an overwhelming consensus about the moral and social atmosphere at Bele Chere.

And again, couldn't care less about your opinion of me. What we saw and where we saw it was reason enough to never return to the festival.

Now, will someone please answer my question - does these deeds normally take place after night fall??? I just can't believe all this is happening during the sun-shining daylight where everyone can see, yet no one locates an officer and ask them to have these people removed?????

You know Rankin where the parking garage is off of College. That is where the threesome went on. I don't remember the time, but it was still light out.

The oral thing was in the corner at the front of the First Union main branch. There is landscaping there so it was partially hidden. As I said my wife noticed it.

As for the other stuff it was heavy petting and making out with fondeling. It was rude and inconsiderate, but not illegal.

But I don't belive this. People can't do the things you say in public because it's against the law, it is called public nudity. When I went last year with my family, I saw gay couples, but it was nothing like you are describing. I don't understand how this could happen for everyone to see and no-one complain.

I don't know your Myrtle Beach reference, but I would say public sex is an issue. If you want to say that you are so liberal (supposed republican) that morals and right mean nothing to you, then fine. I have had liberals tell me before that they intend to do and act as they wish in public and public parks. It is my responsibility to protect my daughter from seeing their lude behaviour.

Personally I think public decency and polite society should come first. It should be possible to take a child anywhere in public without fear of her seeing something that will damage her.

Maybe I am too conservative and too polite for you. You and the inconsiderate rabble downtown now and always can have it. I will not be subjecting my daughter to possible inappropriate acts in public, just because it makes you feel supperior to assume and call me a liar.
