Who gave the person in in Charleston the law degree and the knowledge to rate other persons.
Do you know anybody else who was at the party that night?
It was not the mad hatters tea party, it was a friendly get together with friends like it but only beer was the libation. In fact, Bobby like Chris and invited him to the party, introduced himself and shook his hand. Where does that make him a murderer.

Why dont the supporters of Bobby get together either by email or in person to see what can be done to help him and his family and family to be? Email might be better so that some of these non- supporters dont invite themselves where they are not welcome. Maybe with some of the real publics support something could be done to expediate the release of Bobby. Chat too might work to brainstorm on what could help.

This forum is not a safe place to post anything that would benefit Bobby. There are too many people on here who have allowed Chris' death to turn their hearts black. Those who are now ruled by their despair and bitterness might work to complicate justice. I think that those of us who support Bobby and his parents should find our own ways of helping. Find out who to write. Find out how to write Bobby and help keep his spirits up. Find out how we can help Bobby work towards an education, so that when he does get out, he can lead a productive life. I didn't know that Bobby was going to be a father. That makes all of our efforts even more dire. Part of our job is to also pray for those who carry anger and a desire for revenge.

Brevard Native, and Gone baby gone, you have really showed me the way of Christianity. I never knew that supporting a murderer is the way to make things right with the lord. Oh, have mercy on my soul, for I have sinned, for thinking ill thoughts about a young man in jail for killing another young man. Gees Louise, why canít i get things right. Thank goodness we have intelligent non ignorant people like you fighting the fight for low lifeís like bobby. What would the world do with out you.........?

I don't think Christianity has anything to do with this, "The Public". You've an array of choice before you. Frankly, I could care less about you and what you choose to do. I also believe in making judgements. I stand by mine and you stand by yours. Good luck with that. In my judgement, Bobby didn't deserve the sentence he received. And for that reason, I will work to help him. If you choose to descend into a pit of bitterness and hatred, well...alright. Do whatever you must. As this whole incident has shown us all, no matter what side of the fence you find yourself, choices make a big difference. Adios, btro'. Hope you can honor your friend's life by making your own worthwhile.

I'm telling you, no matter how passionate you may be about all of this, check our spelling. It seems that most of the people who post on this topic have no idea about grammar or spelling. This, I think, is another example of why you wouldn't want to raise your kids in a town like Brevard. The quality of education in these small southern towns is horrific. It's no wonder the kids that come out of these places make giant mistakes. Get out of Brevard. Study hard. Make a life in a place where there are opportunities so that what happened to Bobby and Chris doesn't happen to you. If you are a parent, find a place that has the best possible school system and go there. Brevard is a dead end. Run away. Run far away.
That's funny... Transylvania County is, has, and will continue to be one of the best schools systems in NC. Small town schools that have a greater respect for the one on one education style are all horrible. The schools in large cities with gangs and teachers who are there only to get the paycheck are so much better. I for one suggest we all vacat small town middle America as fast as we can.... Move to a large metropolis and thrive. Idiot.

Untrue. Transylvania county school systems have a low percentage of graduates who continue on to college and universities. The drop out rate is unacceptable. I would also recommend you consider the quality of the colleges and universities the majority of graduates subsequently attend. Many urban schools have significant problems. However, don't let your post-civil war southern inferiority complex to cloud your honest assessment of the failures in your own school systems. There is a wide margin for improvement. Furthermore, budget cuts and an unsettling clustering of fundamentalist conservative school board members seeds the entire region with red flags. Step back. Take a breath and recognize there is something deeply troubling about the quality of the resources available to the young people in this region. When Transylvania county achieves a rate of graduates who go on to college of 90% and the drop-out rate is below 10%, you can hold your head high. Until then, your standard of what is considered "best" is pretty dismal.

Let me finish by acknowledging a theme that runs throughout my posts. Those who support Bobby and those who mourn Chris should endeavor to serve young people who may find themselves at risk. The key word, is 'service'. In whatever community you choose to reside, work to empower young people and raise their standards. Help them recognize that there are better choices out there beyond ignorance, intoxicants, and underachievement. Serve, in some capacity, and through prevention we will find our own form of redemption.

All of this has gotten to be absolutely ridiculous, and is not helping the situation. To those of you who are concerned about, and supportive of Bobby, I thank you! If you are close to him, you would either know myself, or his parents, any one of us would be glad to give you updates. For obvious reasons, I can't just post his info. I am his girlfriend, no, this is not Liz. They have not been together for some time now. I got another letter from him yesterday, and he is ok, just eager to get the appeal process started. And by the way, Will Cathey is a good man and is still trying to help Bobby. We all hate that this was an unfair trial. The judge did not allow evidence to show the character of Chris, including the fact that there were 3 other people Chris had tried to pick fights with, one of whom was there to testify, but was not allowed. Also, the judge did not allow the fact to be known that there was more than just marijuana in Chris' system. For it to have been fair the character of the deceased would have been made known, but instead only Bobby's character was bashed. If you have any info. on the case or trial, please lend a hand. We, myself, Bobby's family, and friends, are doing everything we can to get this appeal rolling. We will no longer reply to these horrible comments. The comments just show the level of immaturity, lack of empathy, and just plain cold hearted soul that you possess. Some of you, I know, are just concerned, and trying to help. There is no reason to argue with ones that are on the same side as you. If you want updates or have info. please let me know who you are and give me your e-mail, or phone number so I can get back to you. Thanks!!
Reality Check

Hello, this is reality and reason speaking. We are from a planet called truth, where when you kill someone, you go to jail. I know it sounds like a funny concept, but itís how we live on our planet.
I would have to say that if Bobby actually MURDERERD Chris on accident, then he would have been more remorseful for what he did. He probably would have changed his life around, and realized that the life he was living led him to that one fateful night. But instead he choose to continue on down that road, leading police in a high speed chase, while evading arrest and with drugs in his possession. And thatís just one night, there is no telling what else he was doing during the two years of freedom, two years Chrisís parents did not get see there son.
Bobby also decided to change his story, and then he wanted to blame Chris. These are not the actions of someone who is innocent, but rather someone who is mad they were caught murdering someone. He is a sociopathic killer who let anger take over. He deserves the sentence he received, and should be evaluated by a clinical psychologist, for his disorder. He will never change until he gets professional help while in prison. I also believe that the people who care about him should really consider the facts, and think about how they would feel if it was there child that was murdered. I hope that Bobbyís family, and girlfriendís, all find peace in there actions and words. We only live this life once, and itís up to you how you choose to live it.

There is not a school system in this state that has a 90% graduation rate.. Transylvania is 77.7% and there are only 20 systems that have a higher rate of graduates.. most of them are rural districts. Maybe you should look up facts before you sound like a moron.

DURHAM COUNTY SCHOOLS 66.3%
CHARLOTTE-MECKLENBURG SCHOOLS 73.8%
TRANSYLVANIA COUNTY SCHOOLS 77.7%

That's still fairly dismal. Let's see the drop out rate statistics and the percentage of kids who go on to higher education. There is a large margin for improvement and your reactionary nonsense does not negate the fact that the kids in rural areas need all the assistance they can get. That is the basis of my argument. I will repeat, when Transylvania county starts sending more than 90% of their kids down the road with high school diplomas and fewer than 10% drop out; when kids in Transylvania county start applying to and being accepted by Ivy League schools; when the best and the brightest in the area are able to forge a viable and sustainable living -- then, you can hold your head high. A rising tide lifts all boats. Set aside your quick-fire inferiority complex and accept that there are problems, they can be fixed and there is a wider world out there from which young people can glean the resources they need to live happy and productive and prosperous lives. They don't have to die in campfires or quell their boredom with drugs and end up in jail. Lift your head out of the sand and do something to improve the future generations host of choices. More often than not, that will mean leading them to a place that offers more.

All I can say is I was there and Bobby is no murderer. I was one of the witnesses who was not allowed to testify. The trial was a joke. The judge would not let the defense show what happened with thier witnesses and testamony so how can you defend yourself? Why would they not let us speak? Why was Chris's past record kept from the jury? Why was his past violent history not allowed to be told thru the many witnesses who saw him start fights in Brevard for no reason?
Lots of things going on behind the scenes that should make everyone in Transylvania County very leery of our justice system here.

Are the family requesting a new trial? What about an appeal? What about doing something about the unjust trial? Someone will listen look at how many times Stanley Sanders had a chance although he is now claiming guilt but he went through the justice system many times. I dont think 14 years is a fair punishment for the supposed crime.
