There is never any traffic in that area except Sunday mornings when churchgoers park.

How will a beautiful upscale hotel, shops, revenue, jobs ect...not "benefit the common good"? Not that my heart doesn't go out to the homeless, but it seems that other "green" areas downtown, such as Pritchard park, are simply venues for vagrants, public urination,panhandling and drugs.

I hope they will take better care of that traffic island than they do the one in front of Botanical Gardens. The weeds are so high there you cannot see traffic coming from the other direction when trying to make a left turn into the parking lot. I'm suprised there are not more accidents there. The city builds all the traffic islands then do not properly maintain them and create a traffic hazzard.

The same is true for most of them all over town. There are a few cases where the neighborhood has cleaned them up but not many. |

That's one of my biggest pet peeves. The weeds flop over into the street, half the stuff looks dead, and they're just plain ugly. It's my hope that, eventually, the fire trucks will take 'em all out one by one. |

Please, Please, Please stop spending my money. Asheville city council has searched high and low for any possible tax stream to tap. I have no doubt that if reelected our current council will continue to find new and painful ways to seperate us from our money.
They will claim it is for infrastructure and needed maintenance. Sadly the money always seems to go to pavillions in Shiloh, greenways, parks, and bike paths. It is interesting that the best source of tax in the city would be business. However, the city council doesn't lift a finger to help struggeling businesses hurt by the park project. |
