You are just another goverment drone. You are so excited about the power that Obama has given you that you must have lost your morals. I bet you would feel different if your mom was broke down on the side of the road and some pig passed her by to pull over your girlfriend. No wait, I'm sure you dont have a girlfriend. Sorry
Why thank you LawDog....Obama has done nothing for me either, no wife yet but i am engaged...and i have helped several people who have been broken down along side the road...and my morals are fine, however jay i bet yours are questionable

Obama signs your check, and he funds it with my tax dollars. Go give someone a ticket so your boss can give himself a raise! Also, give your girlfriend my regrets.

What do you know, we agree...... The stupidity of some people. Like why some dumb cop would post messages on a thread where people are bashing speed traps....... How much weekly rent does your livingroom set run you?

So I got a ticket for doing 84 in a 70 (around exit 85 or so) and the fine was $282. Now I accept that I was speeding.. but $282?? REALLY?? Is there some sort of new fine calculation system being implemented secretly?$282 is unbelievable for 14 over in a non-work zone. I remember paying a couple of tickets in the past for similar speeding in Atlanta and they ran about $150 per pop.
A lot of us have been hit hard by the economy.. I myself was laid off for a few months this year and am way behind on bills.. I am willing to pay a fine but not a ridiculous amount like this.

I was also stopped on this "lovely" stretch of highway near Ashburn returning to Ft. Benning. I can not believe that these officers have "good intentions" when a 20 mph violation yields a $422 fine. I was pulled over for less than 10 minutes which means that Turner County sherifs are making over $2500 an hour individually pulling over out of state plates. I did not see a single vehicle pulled over on the trip with GA plates and it seems like several of these posts are also from out of state drivers.

I must commend Turner Co. for finding a way to generate more revenue per minute than most Fortune 1000 companies, but do not act like you are doing a service LawDog. You are doing your job, it happens to be soaking out of towners when you're assigned to traffic, but next time you think about complaining about the hourly fees that doctors, lawyers and accountants get away with charging remember that your county takes the cake in predatory hourly rates.

I was speeding to get back to defending your country, maybe next time you see someone in uniform you will decide to spare them and force your county to take pittance of a mere $2000 per hour per squad car.

"was pulled over for less than 10 minutes which means that Turner County sherifs are making over $2500 an hour individually pulling over out of state plates."

Let me clarify: I am not implying that these officers receive any of this money, just that this is the rate at which they are generating revenue.

Amen. I wonder what a county with 20 employes spends all that money on. Probaly buying votes to keep there butts employed. Since they have no other skills.

Quit beating a dead horse and just stop speeding! I'm so tired of hearing these sob stories from those that have a heavy foot in their "Birkenstocks". No sympathy from those of us that drive that highway every day doing the speed limit (or a TAD bit over that's acceptable). Live to get there and let us live too? If you can't afford pay the fine, then SLOW DOWN! Is that simple enough? Jezsss - Law Dog - get out there and show them the difference between Ashburn and Turner County (they have no clue becuase they speed through so fast!) Go get 'em! I don't want them coming though either with their foot to the floor! Quite sad that those who think they're "special" complain. Dear, Me! DOT man - bless you for all the risks you take with these high speed idiots all the time!

i don't live in a trailor park...most of the people i pull over are from georgia, and dont give me the " i serve my country crap" i am a veteran, 20 years with deployments...and i still did the speed limit, even before i was a cop...fines are high to make u think twice about speeding again...and i'm not an ass, just ask the two ladies that i helped on the side of the road..one by changing a tire and the other by calling EMS after one of those speeders hit her and kept going...no worry though, he was caught by another officer...and yes he got a ticket, and a trip to jail...see u all out there

I commute between Atlanta GA and Gainesville FL regularly.. I hope everyone is aware of the HUGE difference in ticket fines assessed by the 2 states. The ticket for 14mph over that I paid $310 for in GA would be $156 in FL. And it seems this big increase in speeding ticket fines in GA (almost double) occured in Feb 2009.(not talking about the upcoming spuer speeder law, that is different.. and proper.. I never do above 85mph anyway)

So those of us who care about this need to contact our representatives http://www.legis.state.ga.us
and ask for more reasonable speeding fines (ie fines that are equivalent to those charged in other states)

Welcome to the Blue Light Special. It's our number one and only source of revenue. We call it our tourism industry; you know, Crime and Punishment. Highway robbery; naw, got to pay for all them deputy and police salaries to protect them travelers and show a little southern hospitality to boot.
We consider Ashburn a permanent road construction site. Just because there ain't no visible workers don't mean they ain't none. One might cross the road late at night when you ain't looking. Slow down and look for some tracks or droppings, they got to be out there somewhere. Well now yall come on back ya hear, love that yankee dollar. Oops, got to go, I think we got another one!

It's not the point if you see cones or any sign of construction it is our responsibility as drivers to slow down regardless of any workers being on the road... There have been to many workers killed to the fact of people not slowing down, there shouldn't be a reason for speed zone signs all construction areas are a mandatory 60 or below.. So the best way not to get a ticket in a construction Zone is to slow down at any indication that may look like one, and as for the tickets being so high it clearly states that speeding in a construction zone the ticket is double the price..That is stated at almost all road construction areas..

I live in Ashburn Ga and I can tell you that it is a speed trap here on I75. And it doesnt matter if you are travelling on I75 or on a county road in Turner County, if you are fined, the fines are outrageous. I called all the surrounding counties and the fine was double what they were elsewhere!

Also I do believe in following the speed limits though I may not do it, but it apparently doesnt take much to be a cop!!

EXCUSE ME! But I'd like to see you make it through the training it takes to be a cop. Go ahead and enroll in an academy and see how far you make it! I know some police officers and the training they go through is tough and long. If you or anyone else think they can do a better job than by all means go do it! Other wise slow down or shut up and pay your ticket!

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Sagittarius

If you have any worries or problems today, a close colleague could have the answers you seek. Work will be satisfying, and anything to do with children should be very rewarding today. There could be friction with a relative, but it's nothing serious and things will sort themselves out in due course. Again, you must pay attention to your health, Saggitarius: skin infections are a strong possibility at the moment.
