Full story: Alamogordo Daily News

A federal judge has denied class action and dismissed many of the defendants in a lawsuit filed by New Mexico cockfighters, effectively gutting the New Mexico Game Fowl Breeders Association's pursuit of $77 million for alleged civil rights violations.

They are freakin chickens. There is nothing wrong with cockfighting. PETA needs to get a life and pursue more meaningful problems.

If they want to have cockfights, they should get together with the folks in Mescalero and set it up on the reservation. I'd like to see the State Police try and bust them up there

It really doesn't matter if your a chicken or a dog, blood sports as they are called are inhumane and unacceptable. Swear... where in the world have our values gone?

We have more pressing problems then people getting together fighting chickens. We have an idiot for a president who care nothing for America. For 16 months all he has talked about is healthcare. Doesnt work on unemployment or illegal immigration. He has spent more time bowing to terrorist kings and tring to make peace with terrorist than he has on anything else other than healthcare.
Our values as a country went out in the 60's and havent been heard from since!

I think that... if anyone is using any type of animal in blood sports... that they have serious and pressing issues themselves. I myself like to discuss the issue the post originated from, and tend to stay away from others agenda's to drag their personal issues in. If our values left in the 60's maybe we should look at finding them again?

It may be hard to find them. Everything today has to be politically correct. America treats criminals like they are boyscouts, treats crime with a slap on the wrist. We are so busy keeping up with the Joneses that we have forgotten what made America great to begin with.

cockfighting and dog fighting are the early steps to crimes against people. once you start hanging out with bloodsport people it makes it easier to engage in the other illegal activities they conspire in drug dealing, thievery, and other law breaking behavior.

Right, so allowing people to torture animals is okay? And it's not just about the animals. There is a lot of gambling and drugs involved with this kind of "business". It's sick.

From a mental health perspective, people who abuse animals are MANY times more likely to also abuse people. This is well-documented; how can you not see that weeding out animal abusers IS a priority?

Guess you flunked comprehension 101 also. I never defended these abusers, just said we have more important issues than roosters being fought for money.

Never claimed that you did, but then, a master of comprehension would have understood what I said, no?

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Gemini

A little give and take goes a long way, so try to be flexible and malleable when dealing with others. It will also pay to ask people what they think rather than to make sweeping assumptions on their behalf, because you could be in for a surprise. A child may have some interesting information for you, or they could make a statement that really sets you thinking.
