We ordered two enchilada dinners from Happy's last nite since we were on the south side of town anyway. When my wife picked it up, there was only one dinner. The cost of that one plate was $9.66. She decided that due to the cost of just one dinner, we could just split the plate because we didn't want to pay another $9.66 for the 2nd plate. Got it home and found one measly corn tortilla with about a tablespoon of meat on it and a blob of greasy spanish rice and another blob of refried beans. For the price of that one meal, we could have had a DECENT enchilada plate from any mexican restaurant in town for a whole lot less than what we paid. Happy's lost two customers last night. We will never go back!

We stopped eating there years ago - nasty, smelled like wet dogs and piss! Filthy eatery, I heard that dogs lick the silverware clean. And weird clown figures looking at you while you wonder at the moving pepper on your aborted egg!

I go to Happy's all the time. Have had that same enchilada plate on 2 occasions. Its actually made with 2 tortillas just like any mex. restaurant Ive been to here. It was also quite good. Just like any restaurant in town it depends on which cook u get.You want to complain about food try Lucy's!!

And sorry, there was only 1 corn tortilla, not 2. I lifted it up to see if there was another one under it and there wasn't. It wasn't worth $3 let alone the $9.66 that we had to pay for it. I can get a great enchilada plate at Rojas for $7.99 and have some leftover to take home for another meal. That's where we'll go next time.

First thing, you went to Happy's and ordered Mex food. You go there for the burgers, chix strips, beer battered fries. Not mexican food. Like you said from now on go to Rojas for mexican food. If you want a good burger then Happy's. And like they said it all depends on the cook, which is disappointing but true. It used to be pretty grungy but now I would say that it isnt too bad cleanliness wise. I know the health inspector for Carlsbad and he tells me which restaurants to stay away from and Happy's isnt one of them.

Thanks, but we'll stick to Becky's for good burgers and chicken strips and onion rings. We won't be going back to Happy's.

YES YOU WOULD!!! That is why there are specialty restaurants! You want GOOD mexican food go to a mexican restaurant not to a burger joint. If I went to an Italian retaurant i wouldnt expect them to have great Kung Pao Chix. Why would you ask? BECAUSE it is an Italian restaurant!

We get enchilada plates frequently from Sno-To-Go which is definitely not a mexican restaurant, but they make a decent enchilada plate. Also, Dari Lea makes the best tacos in town. Again, not known as a mexican restaurant. The sorriest mexican food I've ever eaten was from the Cortez, a mexican restaurant. A restaurant does not have to be a speciality restaurant to make decent ethnic food.

Their taco meat is like watered down cat food. I honestly do not think Carlsbad has any great mexican food restaurants. Rojas is good but not great. Everyone knows that Cortez is horrible. My point is that Happy's is a burger joint not known for anything mexican. IF Carlsbad needs a new restaurant it needs a Mexican restaurant that we as a town can be proud of. People out of town always ask me, " Where is the best mexican food in town?" I always say, " My kitchen!" I honestly cannot recommend one to anybody and feel wholeheartedly that they are going to get great mexican food.

Excellent Mexican food is available in Carlsbad at the Stevens! Excellent Italian is available at the Trinity, a Steakhouse. Excellent burgers are available at the Red Chimney. Excellent Mexican is available at Danny's. The fact is folks, if it's on the menu, they should know how to prepare it. Happy's SUUUUUXXXXXX! They have a FILTHY place, filthy food handling practices and they're in an old Stuckey's ferfuxsake!! ANYPLACE is better than Happy's in Carlsbad!!

Dunno if he is still there, but sounds like it. A real nasty dude from Loving and I think his dad's name was Glenn. If he is still there, that explains why the food really suxx! At one time when they first opened the food was excellent, but they have been on a downhill slope for years! Should change the name from Happy's to Road Kill Cafe or Garbage Unlimited if you ask me!
