Mr. Dave had the unfortunate experience of backing out of his driveway, stepping on the brake and having the pedal go to the floor. The car stopped when it slammed into a brick wall on a neighboring lot. Mr. Dave thought it might be a good time to get the rest of the car painted, while it was in the shop getting repaired. Little did we know at Highlander Hot Rods that he expected to get it all done with the amount of the insurance check.
Dave was able to find “like new” parts for his ’64 Buick Riviera in an outside salvage yard in Michigan. We didn’t know the car was stored outside until Dave’s friend and courier delivered the parts. He also noted that when he arrived to pick up the parts, he had to wait until they torched the dented and twisted tail light panel off of the car. I hope you can visualize what we had to work with. Although, I will admit, without the 6”x 6” dent in the truck lid, I had seen worse. I could go on and on, but let me say this – every retail business will someday end up with someone who, no matter what you do for them, won’t think it is enough. Mr. Dave is running out of shops. He was told to get his car out of another shop about 15 miles away, and two others refuse to do work for him any longer. Too bad you find this stuff out after the fact. When you get in the area, stop in. We still have pictures of this car and the daily log of the hours spent and the daily job description of work done. |

We also worked on Dave’s son car, a 1969 Firebird (its funny how they came back to us.) The car was brought in with a complete paint job. It needed to be put back together and had the typical problems. One door was jambed shut, windows wouldn’t wind down and parts wouldn’t align. The things you want someone else to do because you don’t have the talent and knowledge. That was nine months ago. Two weeks ago I get a phone call saying he was unhappy about some things. This is after he posted the blog! I told him to bring the car in and we would take care of it. It still isn’t here. Why wouldn’t they talk to us face to face? I guess it’s easier to do it this way. |

I had my RX7 convertible completely repainted at Highlander. I provided them with a camera so that they could keep a log of all that was done. I also stopped in often and I can say they really do the job right. My car is seen at cruise-ins and car shows and there are always a lot of people asking me where I got they beautiful paint job. The car was not just painted, they did all the required body work and took the time to "do it right the first time". I highly recommend this shop to anyone wanting a professional job. Thank you.
