Speaking Spanish in front of the boss who does not speak the language is an insult. That's plain poor behavior on their part. After 5 or 6 owners have come and gone, did they want a job or not? Sometimes you have to look at the customer service and apparently the workers "feelings" were more important then doing their job.
If I can behave badly at my job and hang on to it just because I'm a so called minority, hey I'll be whatever it takes.

"Every calculation based on experience elsewhere fails in New Mexico."
Lew Wallace governor of New Mexico territory, 1878-1881

He said it over 100 years ago, and it holds true today.

I was born and raised in Taos New Mexico, some of my ancestors helped make it what it is today, a completely unique town, rich in history, art, and culture. To categorize Taos people as low-riding, gun slinging, pot-heads, is an assumption that could only be made by someone of poor knowledge, ignorant upbringing, and close minded ideas. Taos is one of the most beautiful places you could ever visit and one location of few, that is accepting of different cultural backgrounds, races, and individuality. Every place has it's good and bad, and I am proud to claim Taos as my home town. So before you start knocking people for the language they speak and the way they choose to live their lives, get a clue and a life.

I do not think he did any thing wrong .
if they like speaking Spanish do it on there time not the hotel time i do not
speak good Spanish so if i do not understand or know what they are saying or what the price of the room is I'm just going to look for a new hotel and if i call them why not give me a name i can remember and say. sometimes i have a hard time with some Spanish names. my Spanish is not good
I ray Goodman support Larry Whitten and the Taos hotel

just so you all know I'm not a Racist my wife and family are from Mexico and I love them with all my heart and they speak Spanish all the time at home but when we go to a friends home and they do not understand Spanish they talk in English so they can . i think they should only speak Spanish for the customers who don't speak English. I think English should come first after all this is America and if I went down to Mexico i would try to speak Spanish first I think that would be the right thing to do.

ENGLISH ONLY IN THE WORKPLACE, EDUCATION, AND GOVERNMENT for UNIFICATION of these still United States of America! Tell the next ignorant immigrant to OUR America that ENGLISH is the ONLY acceptable language to be heard while these numb-skulls make money and a good living in our midst. my idea of a racist is Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Arizona and Arizona Motor Vehicle Division . AND Dallas police for issuing traffic tickets for not speaking English. Oh and the Colorado Police Department makes me ashamed too.
law enforcement like them make me feel a shame to be a American .the idea of illegal immigrant is anyone with brown skin baggy clothes and drinks tecate beer and anyone who speaks Spanish and their idea of a drug dealer is anyone with a nice car listens to Mexican music eats tortilla and drinks beer. this is clearly racist to me. stuff like this need to be stopped. i think all these guys should be in jail. down here in Arizona D.M.V collected a lot of money for driver licenses and then they past a law so then cannot drive anymore so sheriff Joe Arpioa could issue a lot of traffic tickets for driving without a license so then when he stops them again he can deport them for violating the law. my nephew was in accident he had a license but his insurance expired so they suspened his license. he was brought here when he was a kid he is now 38yrs old he went to court and paid for all the damages and got his insurance. the judge told him to go to the D.M.V to get his license reinstated but when we went they told him they wouldn't reinstate his driver license. they say hes owes them money but they wouldn't let him pay. they say when he gets pulled over it will be a felony and they will deport him because they wont let him pay the money. hes been trying to pay them for 5yrs now.

A real American would never abandon their honor and patriotism, yet you do so willy nilly based on a single internet rambling of a buffoon. You are a fool. Please, don't ever call yourself American again.

This man is a racist. He needs to be sued and destroyed through that lawsuit.

Then let's see if he still feels his bullying way is the right way.

Holy Enchilada !!
Change your name at the work place?? I have seen this done at some Hotels & I don't think it is such a bad idea. I've seen a guy named Jose change his name tag to "Joe". But only if the employee chooses too. Yes, I can understand how it would help the guest with pronounciations (I hope I spelled that right) but New Mexico is a largely spanish speaking area & I think Tourist & guest who travel there will be expecting to meet a lot of Julio's & Javier's & sample some Burritos Tacos & re-fried beans. If my boss told me to change my name tag to accomodate the guest I would choose "Adolf". Will Mr Whitten be changing the name of the road his Hotel sits on? Paseo del Pueblo is in spanish also .... ay caramba!!

now some people say the way i think could be considered traitorous but i dont believe that at all i believe that our forefathers set in place with the constitution for everyone an opportunity to be free. for anyone who is willing to come. i as an American will never forget whose land this really is you have to keep this in mind the Indians were here way before us.they are the rightful owners of this land. i feel ashamed that we don't give them the opportunity to industrialize and prosper in their own nation. they are their own nation and we keep them poor and occupy most of their land. the republic of lakhotah September 2007: UN passes the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples # December 2007: Lakotah Freedom Delegation withdraws from all treaties with the US.

Lakotah Sioux which unilaterally withdrew from all treaties with the United States, thus forming the worlds newest nation, the Republic of Lakotah.and the US is still on their land and in their country

Its boundaries are surrounded by the borders of the United States, covering thousands of square miles in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, and Montana.

in the South West New Mexico, California, and Arizona was owned by Mexico we tell them to sell their land or be killed.

I'm just going to let you know how i truly feel about America. my forefathers fought and died for this land it was known as the land of immigrants anyone in the world had the opportunity to live a better life are forefathers made a constitution and granted us rights at birth one of them was right to free travel without fee's I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, "foreign and domestic " most that come from Mexico think there is freedom here in the U.S.A only if they knew the truth . there was a time not long ago that we were free but it has been stripped from us , there was a time that we had the right to free travel a right to bear arms the right to privacy all that will soon be gone thanks to state and city laws .

Constitutional guarantee one may, therefore, under normal conditions, travel at his inclination along the public highways or in public places, and while conducting himself in an orderly and decent manner, neither interfering with nor disturbing an others Rights, he will be protected, not only in his person, but in his safe conduct."

Constitutional guarantee free of charge
Citizen has a Right to travel upon the public highways by automobile and the Citizen cannot be rightfully deprived of his Liberty.

i will protect all peoples within the US

I will support and will defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic to the death.

I will fight any state or city that will not protect Constitution of the United States or the rights of the Citizen i do not think the enemies are from the south i think they are right here in all the cities passing laws and patrolling our streets looking for a new way to get cash out of your pocket in some cities you do not have the right to have a gun on you and that is your guaranteed right at birth

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Gemini

Maybe it's pre-Christmas tension but people can turn nasty in the blink of an eye today. This is especially likely if they've got a lot on their plate or they think they're very important, and you may have to treat them with kid gloves if you want to avoid getting sucked into a bad-tempered war of words. Some gentle humor may help to rescue the situation before it descends into acrimony.
