Pedestrian

When biking to work or school, please remember to stay off of the sidewalk and try watch out for pedestrians. It's not just car vs. bike in this town - it is also bike vs. pedestrian, and the aggressor in this case is usually the bicycle.

Ride the BUS

why all the media on bikes? its only good for the single person, not families, elderly, disabled, large trips to shopping, etc...why is the Sentinal not promoting the BUS? that IS the answer, you get people on the bus (eliminating up to 60 cars per bus) then you promote the bikes as the missing link between the bus stop and your final destination. go green my azz...hypocrites!

Personaly I think that radical friday bike riding by the cooks who have been stirring up trouble ought to be made illegal. These cooks like to get out there and try and intimidate people who are driving their engine powered vehicles. Oh geeze, how terrible! A person driving a car or whatever ALONE AND BY HIMSELF OR HERSELF!! Quick get the camera and snap the photos. GET A LIFE SANTA CRUZ WEIRDOS!!

Ahhhh....the outspoken minorities. This article was not about the critical mass ride. It is about bike to work day. A promotion to get people off of their fat butts and onto a bike. The benefits abound. The bus is great, too. I use both every day. Every day I see families on bikes. Going to school together, to the park and the store. Everyday I see disabled people on modified bikes, going to work and anywhere else. The only people I don't see on bikes are lazy folks with pockets full of excuses. I'm sure that's most of the people who will read this. No one is making you read this. No one is making you live here.

I'm a strange person in weird Santa Cruz. Too bad.

The problem I have is that I need an open space on the bus racks for my bike. My only real commute is up to campus and I would love to take my bike up with me every time I go up. But on a sunny day I am almost guaranteed to NOT get one of only three bike slots on the buses. Just putting that out there.
